Default Put yourself in Lindsey Buckingham's shoes and write a setlist.

Hi Ledgies!
Before anyone asks no I am not in anyway connected to the band. Just a disclaimer there: I am a simple person and music fan like HelloMonster and don't want my comments being splashed across http://www.fleetwoodmacnews.com
without my permission.

Rather than get angry at Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, I thought what I would do is...do something a little more constructive. It's not as constructive as working on my university Italian and Law assignments. Still, it's a step up the procrastination ladder from "complaining".

I'm aiming to make my thread unique to the other setlist threads on this premise: put yourself in Lindsey Buckingham's shoes. Show some empathy! You are the amazing, talented, maybe even handsome...Mr Buckingham. You can play The Ledge on guitar without using a plectrum or getting confused because it doesn't match the rules you learnt in high school. You are currently somewhere in Los Angeles CA working in a recording studio, or maybe you're just at home with the family. I don't know.

Christine McVie has written some very cool songs lately - Too Far Gone is your favourite. It's "danceable"...reminds you of that time when you and Stevie were still together in the seventies. Good times.

Everyone wants a piece of you...and you're old. None of these people seem to remember how old you are: you're 64, 65 soon. Stevie Nicks is somewhere in Nashville with this odd unshaven character whose music you never really liked very much. Hmmm what's Annie Lennox doing these days?

John McVie and Mick Fleetwood have been playing there arses off, apparently, you think that's what you said last year...or the year before. You're a little forgetful at 64. Just a little. Not so bad yet that you put toasts in the DVD player!

The brief: write the Fleetwood Mac Live 2014 Tour setlist, taking into account the above points whilst still satisfying the majority of your fan base. Feel free to put a few surprises in around the edges but be sure to remember what an "unhappy tour" Say You Will was in 2003-2004. That can't happen again because someone's in your ear saying make sure we don't stuff it up! Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie have left the job of writing the setlist to you but you know there are some songs that they would absolutely love to sing on stage. These must be included as well as the ines that pander to the fans. Now - go!

I think it would work better if I post what I came up with after someone else starts.

Ta, hope you guys have some strong opinions!

secret love.

i'm confused about your comment about www.fleetwoodmacnews.com ? that site seems to be very much on the up-and-up in what they do, in my experience.

These seems like a very possible set list. It's mostly hits, a couple lesser played tunes and a couple new ones. I think that's a reasonable expectation.

The Dance tour had 26 songs, so I assume this tour will, too. When I counted up their "must do" songs, I came up with 21. Which leaves room for 5 surprise songs. So I put in 2 new songs and 3 lesser-performed ones. I think it's pretty close to what they'll actually do, give or take a song.

Disclaimer to Elle: contains irony and sarcasm in large doses. If you're American try not to think too hard about taking them.

To the person I quoted. You're probably right. I'm hoping this tour that there might be a few more surprises than the usual 5-7
Surprises could include things like mini-sets, acoustic sets, banjos etc. I reckon Maybe a vibraphone for Christine (or Stevie to play + sing Secret Love on )

Silly jokes aside this is what I came up with trying hard to put aside my biases but maybe not hard enough. Honest. Fingers crossed

Fleetwood Mac: On with the Show 2014 Tour
1. The Chain
2. You Make Loving Fun
3. Dreams
4. Too Far Gone
5. I Don't Want to Know
6. How I Feel
7. Little Lies
8. Seven Wonders
9. Big Love band version
10. You and I, part
11. You and I, part II
12. Juliet/Book of Miracles
13. Landslide
14. Steal Your Heart Away (My personal bias: Wanted to put Behind the Mask here but come on pigs don't fly)
15. Bleed to Love Her
16. Destiny Rules
17. Rhiannon (Now that Christine has had her break singing lead...)
18. Don't Stop
19. Tusk (Lindsey's bias: Let's subvert fans' expectations and put the encore maybe after song 25. That reinforces my faith in cycles.)
20. The Ledge
21. Think About Me
22. Sara
23. Beautiful Child
[Lindsey: ****! What's the name of that record where Mick's posing with Stevie? I forgot all about it ...oh no...for Americans playing at home - this is my attempt at some ironic humour It's okay we will have some Rumours songs as encores. Oh that song...that one where The Woman sings "you could be my silver springs". It's worth having in the set just to get her to look at me with love...and lovely anger.]
24. Honey Hi
25. Silver Springs
Encore 1:
26. Miss Fantasy (hey may as well chuck in my favourite song ever from 2013 - no one will notice because they're already in the parking lot driving the cars away or they've stopped reading by now. That's
27. It Takes Time
or was it called Songbird? I'm a legend pianist in my own mind. Better make it Songbird.
28. On With the Show.

Thanks for reading

Well it looks like everyone will have to leave room in the set list for a few new Stevie solo songs on this tour...

Considering the 2009 tour had zero Say You Will songs and the 2013 tour had 1, I doubt that, with Christine returning, they'll include multiple selections from that album which she was not a part of and even less so 3 such songs that they've never played (except Destiny Rules once or twice or however many shows they did).

I'd better be nicer to her then.

EDIT: I need to learn how to do Multi-Quotes again. Long time since I've used that function in any online forum.

That's a great point. I wrote my setlist when I was quite ehm excited about Fleetwood Mac's new studio album and Stevie confirming her involvement (last night).

Totally agree that there would not be more than 1-2 Say You Will songs. 3-4 seems a stretch

no use to try and catch up, that was just jbrownsjr's very nice attempt to diffuse some panties-in-a-twist posts that eventually got deleted while you were sleeping... but is very much out of context now.

Hey, I wrote my LB- version of the setlist. With two B/N songs and also a slug of Tusksongs. Never going to happen, but we can all carve the stone setlist it will be. say you love me will be the opener, and then chain, dreams, blablablabla

I have doubts that Say You Love Me will be the opener. Yes, it was done a long time ago, but I do not think a Christine song will start the concert. It will be Second Hand News again or The Chain. I think Tusk would be an awesome opener with the drum instrumental beginning, if they are feeling inspired.
