I love the concept of recording 15 songs in two weeks. I don't want her to sing her best technically, I want her to sing her most real and unpolished. From her gut, from the basic emotion. Also if it's instable or slightly out of tune in moments. The live-feel. Cool.

These were my initial thoughts too. Although, given her fastidiousness for touching up even her actual live tracks, I doubt this release is going to give us anything like that. I am fairly confident that it'll sound good, though.

I have friends who has similar music interests (they are big fans of Tom Petty). Yet Stevie isn't of any interest to them for various reason - one of them being her voice, I knew they would never be fans and run out to buy her music, but I wanted to, at the very least, establish Stevie's credibility with them. At a dinner party I played the In Your Dreams album. It worked! They enjoyed the album, so I succeeded in changing their perspective about her.

I don't understand the fans who find a problem with the album, which I think is one of her most solid works. There are strengths and weaknesses in most of her albums, but I've learned to love all of them. They are familiar; like comfort food.

Really? In listening to Stevie and Tom, their voices are extremely similar. That's why they sound so good together.

My friends favor more male artists than females, and their misconceptions of Stevie are very common among "non-fans", that she sounds too much like a goat and that she is too airy/fairy.

I like dispelling that myth, and showing them that she is vastly respected - and has worked with and friends with many of the artists they they admire.

She is a better singer than Tom Petty.

But wasn't really the point. It wasn't contest to determine who was the better singer.

Why must personal preferences turn into "battles" about who or what is better than the other? Those thoughts and threads here are so stale and tiresome. It's all subjective.

That's great!

I think in some ways non-fan ears are the best at seeing a piece of work with clarity. Fans can often get bogged down in their own ideas of what they think an album "should" sound like or what they want it to be, rather than simply taking it for what it is.

Amen on that, although I think we've all been guilty of that in various times.

I agree her songs were more mature when she was younger.
My main gripe is the awful lyrics but I do think the whole album is pretty bad, not just lyrics.
What are your favorite Stevie Nicks albums?

Right now the order would be

Bella Donna
Wild Heart
TISL
Rock A Little

Sometimes the order might change except Bella Donna is always number one for me. I never skip a track on that record.
