hope they get all this new music out for us, but i really don't want them touring beyond start of 2014. i count on SN to put an end to that lol.
But didn't he say, "it's the best work they've ever done"?

I'm with you, I'll take another solo work from him. But let's not think that it's just Stevie that likes the big machine. Everyone on the planet likes a big ATM machine.

nope he keeps saying "in a long time". which is of course factually true either way since they haven't done together anything in a long time, as far as we know.

for SWS he did say that may be the best work HE has ever done. note he didn't say anything like that for his This is 40 songs.

i don't think anybody has any doubt that all macsters like their big cash machine, big adoring arena audiences and all that other jazz that comes with it. (while i like to keep my cash and go with more creative small machine instead )

I'm betting with you. I'm certain that the vox populi will be pleased. He's made that point clearly. I'm just saying that I like the idea of a band that transforms the old sound into new era. You need to take a certain risk to do that. And this time, I'm not holding my breath. I expect blandness.

But Hey! I honestly hope I'm wrong.

If they'd back up the words with actions, then, yes. But, everytime he says "best stuff we've ever done", yet when it comes to the concert set, we're lucky to get at least 3 of those songs. If it really WAS the best they've ever done, wouldn't you think they'd be wanting to push those tunes upon the concert-goers? With radio being so compartmentalized these days, people AREN'T going to hear the new material on the radio, so the only way to get the new songs exposed is to play them. But, they don't for the most part.

This battle has been ongoing since at least Tusk,a masterpiece that never would have happened if he had given in to "the girl" who then was complaining about the length of the album .the sound of his songs and even the name of the album. The chagrined middle of the road reaction was of course Mirage .

They played more than 3 new songs with SYW. This time around, we don't even have 3 new songs in a true sense, so . . .

No, he didn't, although he did say that for SYW. This time around he did say that John and Mick's playing on the new songs was superlative. But I think he meant on the songs they did as a whole and not just the Sad Angel we've heard.

Yeah, I can't complain about their promotion of the SYW album on that tour. They played quite a bit of it.

If they're 8 songs and we ever get to hear all of them, I'm sure many of them will contain a more progressive or experimental sound and that maybe he only had half that were designed to make Stevie want to sing on them. So, my guess would be that he gave her something to choose from and, for balance, the other 4 probably were a bit more Murrowy.

Citation? Or it didn't happen.

Perhaps you've conveniently overlooked the fact that Stevie's songs on Tusk, not Lindsey's, are the songs that essentially made it such an iconic album.

Oh you know that Stevie said if she was in charge it never would have been a double album. You don't need a citation. That quote is floating around in your little gray cells, surely .

I think this is along the lines of what BombaySapphire3's referred to.

This one is from The Record in 1982

Well Tusk wasn't my album. Tusk was mainly Lindsey's conception, dream, everything, he ever wanted to do. Everybody just figured that for whatever his reasons were, it was important that he do that and we just sort of sat back and let him do it. I don't mean to sound blase or anything. I was there. I just didn't have very much to do with it. Because if I had much to do with it, it wouldn't have been a double album and it wouldn't, it wouldn't have been crazy.

I never did like the cover, and everybody knows that. I got attacked by a German Sheperd about a year ago and the picture reminds me of that dog. He really isn't a mean dog, but I don't like pictures of dogs that look like they're going to rip your face off. I simply had to learn to accept it. But I'll just never wear a tee shirt with that dog on the front of it.

Not to be augmentative, but it was Lindsey's production of Stevie's songs that made them iconic. I really don't think songs like Storms or Sara would have been go great without Lindsey's production of them.

I know she felt this way about Say You Will, but I didn't think she specifically said this regarding Tusk. Yes, I know "the band," in hindsight, after Tusk became a commercial "failure," criticized Lindsey's eccentric approach. But I don't recall Stevie specifically saying anything to this effect.
