Just conjecture.

Would be super sexy, but probably not. We'll probably know, "any day now".

There's no doubt in my mind we will not hear Christine on this EP, or the possible future full length album.

I say definitely not for the EP, but I don't think we can rule out her contributing in some capacity to a hypothetical album even if unlikely.

I asked Mick about Christine recording with them at the Chicago M&G. His answer was "Well, she'd have to tour." In that, she wouldn't tour, so no she won't be recording with them. She won't be on the EP.

I realise that kinda answers the question, but would that even apply if she just did backing vocals? I was assuming that's what people meant - a la BTLH and SYHA.

She recorded for the Time album and didn't tour, didn't she? Why must she tour?

I wonder if this is a line the whole band (minus Stevie) is drawing in the sand, or if it's only Mick being stubborn? In regards to the EP, while I don't think she's on it, I will be ecstatic if proven wrong. |

I don't understand the mentality either. It's not like they're going to have a radio hit written by her that everyone would be expecting to hear on tour. If she's willing to do it, why not? I'm not sure if this is Mick's actual opinion or if it's the band's standard response at this point.
I don't see the point of her doing backing tracks like on BTLH or SYHA, I could barely hear her on the SYW versions of these tracks. If she's going to participate on a record she should be allowed to fully participate.

Somehow I don't think it's Mick. I think it's either Stevie or Lindsey as those are the two with the real power these days to green-light or hold up a project. Did LB vote down using ITM material coz Ken produced it, and he, Lindsey, wouldn't get to put his mark on it and he sees himself as the "visionary" for FM? Stevie was not thrilled with the final production of her songs on SYW. In the documentary Thrown Down is a clear example. She clearly ends up going along to get along with the production. When it came to the *business* decision of single vs double album, Lindsey lost out but that's because there are outside forces, i.e., business managers, for all the other members who have no qualms about arguing their position forcefully. I think Lindsey doesn't have the *business* sway in the band (I think these days tho that Stevie does) but Lindsey still seems to have the *creative* sway. I think Stevie is no longer happy allowing Lindsey's vision for the music to override hers , and I think the SYW experience was the last straw on that. Added to that her experience working with Dave Stewart and her repeated comments about how easy it was to work with him because he didn't take creative disagreements personally and didn't invest his ego in them and was willing to bend or change and you get a clear sense of why she doesn't want to endure another recording experience with Lindsey unless there's a designated mediator/final voice in the form of an outside producer. I think Christine has clear ideas for her music and wouldn't just hand it over to LB. Maybe she got tired of the same issues Stevie has in that regard. I think Mick and John are missing the ballast Christine provided, personally and musically. Last edited by bombaysaffires; 04-21-2013 at 09:38 PM.. |

I'm not voting on a poll about an EP that the initiator of the poll constantly descibes as something that is never going to be.

I say no to the EP, maybe to the album but definitely as a background musician on an album.
