Default Cover Songs

Hey All,

I’m currently in the planning stages of making a new play list of great cover songs that I love. I have only women artists so far and I may end up making it just women but I want to know what are some of your favorite covers? Not a song that is sampling another song but an actual cover. Any artist or band. So far I have:

Colbie Caillat / Maria (Blondie)
Corinne Bailey Rae / I Wanna Be Your Lover (Prince)
Chaka / Everywhere (Fleetwood Mac)
Jennifer Lopez / You Belong To Me (Doobie Brothers or Carly Simon – I forget who did it first)
Tina Turner / Missing You (John Waite)
Sophie Ellis-Bextor / Take Me Home (Cher)

I read that she is doing it but I have not heard any clips of it yet. Speaking of Kylie, her song "Nothing Is Gonna Stop Us Now", that is a cover right? Didn't the group Saint Etienne do it first?

Yep - it's a Saint Etienne cover. She also did a Duran Duran cover 9The Reflex I think) with someone for a Duran Duran tribute album. I'm not especially keen on Nothing Can Stop Us Now if I'm honest, but it's far better than her terrible attempt at Should I Stay Or Should I Go! No, Kylie, no!

Oh her version of There Must Be An Abngel is fantastic!! I was right at the front, by the barrier, as she did it. I must tell you all about the Aphrodite gig...

I also forgot:

Lacuna Coil - Enjoy The Silence (Depeche Mode)
Rosanne Cash - Hometown Blues (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers)

The greatest cover of all time is:

Go West by the Pet Shop Boys (cover of Village People)
