Default Review of Wildlfower sorry Sheryl -phobes it's a good one

Wildflower Amazon Review.
Since her 1993 debut Tuesday Night Music Club, Sheryl Crow has been churning out unassailably appealing CDs in an unassailably appealing voice. Which means, according to the rules of the pop music cosmos, by album six it's about time for a misstep. Natural law, fortunately, will have to keep checking its watch. Wildflower moves Sheryl Crow one step closer to Hall of Fame status as she shunts the established rock star's impulse to get all experimental and sprawls, rambling-rose like, across the substance-spiked pop landscape she helped pioneer. Three ingredients, glistening vocals, flawless production and catchy songs rub up against one another in all the right places. These ingredients will cause you to hold your breath on the beautiful piano ballad "Always on Your Side." They pop up again on the George Harrison-esque "Where Has All the Love Gone" reminding you that Crow can reflect and reveal as convincingly as she can rock. If there is a ripple that runs through Wildflower, it's a pensive one. On the spacy "Chances Are," she sings of being "lost inside a daydream." The measure of her talent, ripe and reappraisal-resistant, is her ability to consistently bring us inside the bubble with her. --Tammy La Gorce

Her misstep was C'mon C'mon, but that's neither here nor there. Can't wait to hear the new album if it's as good as this reviewer makes it sound!

I could care less about reviews and critics - even had it been completely panned I'd run out and buy it!

I can't wait!!!

And today Macca's new one came out! It's already playing in my car

Misstep indeed. I'm looking forward to hearing the new album and hope the songs have more substance than C'mon C'mon.

I always thought if all of C'mon C'mon had been in the same vein as "Weather Channel," it would have been fantastic. But the majority of it is one overproduced, bloated mess of an album.

Actually I think Tuesday Night Music Club is even more uneven but the high points on that one elevate it above C'mon C'mon.

Hmmm. I've gotten most of the songs off of LimeWire to see how good it is and it sounds...pretty bad.

I'm sure I'll end up buying it the week it comes out, anyway, but every song sounds the same. The majority of them are bland, midtempo productions, no rockers (with the exception of "Live It Up"), and they suffer greatly from not containing any of her quirky lyrics. There's no "There Goes the Neighborhood" or "A Change" or "You're An Original" or "If It Makes You Happy" in terms of lyrics. They don't sound like Sheryl Crow songs; the hooks are faint, nothing stands out for the most part, guitar riffs are recycled from song to song (the shameless pilfering from Bowie on "Good Is Good" makes me cringe), and she sings as if she's bored without injecting any emotion into the songs. I really wanted to love this album, too.

Well like I pointed out in another Sheryl thread I think she maybe she needs some strife in her life to write really great songs ie substance abuse.untreated depression.suicidal ex friends etc.So maybe now that she is more complacent the music is less exciting and interesting .I still enjoy Good is Good in spite of the' All the Young Dudes' ripoff .To an extent Sheryl's mo. has always been raiding 70s classic rock anyway. A well crafted album by Ms.Crow is still preferable to alot of what is churned out these days .So I'll wait and see.

Have we all seen this? She has good music taste anyway.

Volume 64

Section: ChatterNo. 11

SHERYL CROW'S FAVORITE ROAD TRIP TUNES

(Songs from her new album, Wildflower, will be on AOL Music Sessions starting Sept. 9.)

1. RAMBLIN' MAN by the Allman Brothers Band: "I can drive anywhere in America and feel I'm at home in southern Missouri."

2. LANDSLIDE by Fleetwood Mac: "I look at the world differently when I hear Stevie Nicks sing. The colors change."

3. DEAD FLOWERS by the Rolling Stones: "They made country music cool. They're English, but sound like every dirt road in the U.S."

4. EASY PLATEAU by Ryan Adams: "He's a real throwback to the old outlaws like Willie [Nelson] and Johnny Cash."

5. HIGHWAY 61 by Bob Dylan: "Self-explanatory."
