Default Get Back On The Plane

Does anyone know the whole story about what happened/didn't happen to this song? I remember reading - I think it was in the Performing Songwriter cover story last year - that Stevie considered this song for 'Say You Will' but it turned out too depressing (and clearly Silver Girl would be amuch better song). Maybe Stevie felt like she covered her 9/11 thoughts with Illume anyway, but I would kill to hear the demo of this song - does anyone know if it's ever been leaked (like so many other Stevie/Linsdey/FM demos)?

The words, as posted in Stevie's journal on September 18/01:

"Written on the plane flying to Washington, D.C. from Columbus, Ohio and to Atlanta from Washington, D.C.
***

So with great courage
We
Get back on the plane
We strive to carry on
We break through the pain
The show must go on
We ~
Get back on the plane…

Back to Washington, D.C.
We are smiling
We are dealing with the pain
We’re not crying
The skies are beautiful, starry, and sad~
It seems they understand
They are glad we have come back
We get back –
On the plane…

With full hearts
We ~
Get back on the plane
We are being escorted out of Washington
By an F-16
Nothing is the same
Everything has changed
We~
Get back on the plane

In deep reflection
We~
Get back on the plane
Each night with determination
We consider it again
To NOT go on
Would be a shame…
So we-
Get back on the plane."

I believe that "Get Back On The Plane," in the form that's it posted on NicksFix, is still prose... not song lyrics.
It probably would have been re-structured somewhat, if it were actually given a melody, etc.

But I have to say that... even though Stevie's heart was in the right place... as a song it would have been terribly clunky, and probably cringe-worthy.
It's not nearly as timeless and affecting as "Illume."

I mean, nothing can be as bad as the tripe Toby Keith was inspired to write after 9/11, but Stevie could (and did) do better.
Maybe she'll lift a few passages from it someday, and turn it into something else... but who knows.

By the way, I want to remind everyone that, when asking a question that is specific to Stevie, please post it in the Stevie Nicks Forum, as opposed to the Rumours Forum.

Thank you.

Sorry about that. I thought maybe I could get away with posting that here since this song was considered for, and ultimitely did not make it to a Fleetwood Mac album.

Yeah, I can't seem to imagine her singing "Washington, DC" in a song. Too strange. Would have to be tweaked a bit if it ever made it to the song stage.
