Another studio album?

What are everyone's thoughts on the possibility of a follow up album to SAY YOU WILL?

SYW has done great sales wise, recently certified gold...and I was very surprised that it was not certified platinum...but I'm sure it will be by the end of the year, if not by early fall.

Or, is there a plan for a live album from this tour?

I think they should definitely do another studio album but not wait 6 years like they did after the Dance. Too much lag time, plus them doing another album in the near future would show that they are one cohesive unit, dedicated to making great music again. Not that they didn't do this for the Dance and SYW, but it seems like they only reunited both times because of Lindsey's solo stuff.

I would not want to see a live album from this tour, because I'm disappointed (as are most TRUE fans) that they didn't do much of the new album. There were so many good songs that were dropped or not done at all (RTTG, DR, Miranda, etc etc etc). If you want a live album, listen to the Dance--it's got Christine too! LOL

I haven't watched THE DANCE in several years, and I went out and bought the DVD last night to replace my old VHS copy.

I can't say how much I enjoyed the DVD, and it was nice to get reaquainted with THE DANCE, which truly was a phenomenal performace. The new songs all fit nicely with the classics, and quite impressively I might add. (Why wasn't "Sweet Girl" ever put to tape???)

I wish "Gypsy" had been left off the set list and replaced with something like "Seven Wonders" or even "Sara", which could have been done just especially for the filming of the concert. ("Gypsy" continues to fall flat for me in a live setting, then and now...the only highlight being Lindsey's excellent guitar work at the end.) I wouldn't have minded hearing "Never Going Back Again" done here as well as something like "Second Hand News", after all, they were celebrating the 20th Anniversary of RUMOURS.

THE DANCE truly outperforms the Eagles' HELL FREEZES OVER. The Eagles phoned it in for that performance, as cold and heartless as anything I've seen done by a music group. What does everyone else think?

Gee, why didn't they just play the whole friggin' album? {he said, sarcastically as possible} Don't they hammer that overrated album ENOUGH? All the hype about this being a "new era of Fleetwood Mac" and they STILL play 3/4 of the album in concert...it would be nice if they played 3/4 of their NEW material in concert, maybe the concert-goers will be so impressed that the NEW album would sell a bit better...but, no, they cop-out and virtually are promoting "Rumours" for the 25th year in a row. Heard it, heard it again, and again, and again...gimme new material.

I was thinking the same thing. But when was the last time B/N actually wrote a song together? Probably not since The Chain?

Look, I couldn't agree more with you. I don't consider RUMOURS to be overrated, however, and I fully expect a couple of songs off of it to be played, but I am disapponted with the lack of new material, especially considering how strong the new songs are. (Plus, "Never Going Back Again" from RUMOURS was a real highlight for me.)

I'm hoping that when I see them again on the second leg that newer songs will have been added: "Thrown Down", "Bleed To Love Her", "Illume"---perhaps done acoustically, "Miranda" could replace "Come", so on and so forth. Plus, time to drop "Beautiful Child" in favor of "Seven Wonders" and add "Everybody Finds Out" as well. But I could go on and one about the set list...see the other thread for second leg suggestions!

There are a couple of songs co-credited on the Buckingham Nicks album...and if Lindsey's going to go on record regarding this new album "going back to what Stevie & I did prior to joining the band" type statements, then a co-write is almost MANDATORY, I would think.

I like Seven Wonders, but I think their dusting off Beautiful Child for this tour has been a great idea...it could stand to stay in the set for a while.

Kind of my take on the Eagles in general (live, that is)...even as far back as the Hotel California tour...the "coldest", "blandest" concert I've ever seen.

My impression has been that everyone else (McVie, Fleetwood, Buckingham) are completely into making another album, but Stevie is hesitant.

If she decides to do a solo album...I don't foresee another Fleetwood Mac album. We're not talking about of tons of time anymore.

Stevie would be foolish to do another solo record. She is able to gain ten times the public attention while in the Mac, plus, in the long run, people are more interested in seeing her with the entire band than solo. Stevie always says she's a "big believer" in FM, so it's time for her to prove it.

chiliD, I completely agree. They are coming back to the East Coast in September and i actually don't think i'm going to go...I never thought i'd opt to NOT go to a FM concert....As it is, i saw them 3 times in May so i don't think i want to spend the money....Plus, as you just said, they do 3/4 (or close to it) of the Rumours album in concert and after 15 years of seeing them in concert i'm a little tired of it. I don't think some of the songs are holding up anymore especially vocally. I think they feel compelled to continue doing the phenomenon of Rumours in concert cause they want to hold a substantial audience. But that just proves to me that they don't have as much confidence in their other work as they claim.

I know i'll get blasted for my opinion so i'll cover myself here....yeah yeah yeah i know there are new fans that will want and expect to hear those Rumours songs as well as older fans but lets be realistic here people...they can't change the setlist a bit from show to show?

When i heard that they were rehearsing Monday Morning and (i think) Storms i was blown away. I was really excited about the upcoming concerts. Then, when i heard that they performed RTTG and Destiny Rules i was impressed. However, when the 2 aforementioned songs never cemented in the final setlist and then the other 2 songs were dropped and replaced with yet another Rumours song i was flabbergasted! My excitement level went down a few notches and i never really regained it.

I guess maybe complaining about it is stupid because obviously they're selling tickets to the shows and are doing well. so, what do i know?!

I think one of the reasons that Stevie seems lackluster (to me-opinion people!) on these shows is because of the fact that she's most likely on autopilot cause she's drained those same songs out by doing them live over and over and over again. If some newer or different older songs were performed i think it might initiate some enthusiasm.

I would love to see a new studio album but this time i would really like it to be in the vein of the albums of the 70's. I want the album to come out of the experiences the band is having together. In other words, i don't any older treasures (although i love them) brought to light, i don't want Lindsey's stuff done and then Stevie just comes in and adds her vocal...I think again that if they, as Lindsey claims, are getting back to what he and Stevie were doing pre-FM then the two of them should be collaborating a bit more together. I really would love to see them pen a few songs together and do a few duets like Frozen Love.

Don't get me wrong, i love the new album but this is just what i would like to see happen for the next album. I think the album will have a closer to the heart, organic type of feel if they ALL work on it together from beginning to end.

Joe---It's my belief now that the shows on the second leg should open up with "Monday Morning." It's time for "The Chain" to move out of that spot. "MM" would be a fantastic opener.

As for the overabundance of RUMOURS material, I'm hoping "Don't Stop" is dropped from the second leg set list. I wouldn't mind seeing "The Chain" gone, either---it just doesn't feel right without Christine and it makes me think I'm still watching THE DANCE tour.

Even if they drop just those two RUMOURS songs, the set could be much more dynamic. Let's face it, GYOW, GDW, and Dreams are not going anywhere!

Many, if not most, would correctly argue that La Nicks' participation in this record is more than enough proof of her commitment to FM. Moreover, as has been argues countless times on this board, it is difficult to demonstrate to any significant degree that she has ever been anything but committed to FM. There is the argument that her TITN material was weak because she put everything good into her solo record. I do not buy that argument because La Nicks had no reason to believe FM was anything but broken up after Mirage. So, for what would she have been saving her material. Moreoever, she has consistently said FM has and had first access to all of her material, the remains of which go to her solo records. Thus, I conclude she has always been dedicated to FM and will be in the future.

Note and disclaimer: In an attempt to avoid WWIV, I am talking solely about La Nicks and make no comment on any other band member's commitment, etc.

Back to the topic at hand - I think they ought to replace the following:

Come - Miranda

Big Love - Frozen Love

Beautiful Child - Crying in the Night

Peacekeeper - Running Through the Garden

World Turning - Everybody Finds Out

Having said that, my dream set lists changes hourly - and can't they play for one more hour

Joe said something about Stevie's music being lackluster because of overplaying the same songs... I agree. When you go to solo show, you still hear Dreams, Rhiannon, Landslide, etc. When you go to an FM show you hear those songs obviously because they are FM songs. I think Stevie should dust off some more "golden oldies" a la Beautiful Child and do those with FM (even bring back Sara, if they had to). I've only been to one FM show and I will be going again on the second leg just so I can keep seeing them. Seeing Stevie for Enchanted and TISL were great and I'm glad she mixed up the songs and did a lot of old/obscure songs...but with the Mac, it's like she gave up.

I want to hear Twisted, Storms, Angel (sharing a mike with Lindsey!), etc... I love the "classics" but I can hear them anytime on my CDs...I want a "concert" experience.

I love all of them, but they need some constructive criticism.
