I thought that Lindsey said in an interview last year that there was new material and it was a matter of when, not if, it would be released. Maybe he said that prior to the release of the EP but I was reasonably sure it was said in relation to the unreleased portion of the eight songs recorded by Men of Mac.

Really I don't think Lindsey and Christine would bother recording new material at this stage of their lives and musical careers if it wasn't intended for an eventual release. After all, recording at Village Studios would have cost a fair bit, if they didn't think the material would be released, why not just do it at Lindsey's home studio at a much cheaper cost?

Maybe! Thanks. I didn't have a melody or any plan in mind. It was more of a spontaneous stream of conscious poem. I was tired. I had a few glasses of wine. This just quickly dropped out of my head. I actually forgot I wrote it or posted it! I was mimicking/adopting KenshiMaster16's unique formatting style

The plodding is naturally inherent in this band. Individually, each of them might make personal comments based on their own expectations and perceptions
A planned strategy to "milk" their fans? Moo! Moo! That's udderly absurd! (laughing at my own cow joke). I see no motive for that. It's not like they have to set up a lemonade stand to raise all kinds of money for their tour, with the hopes that more people will show up for their shows. The financial benefit is a given.

On the upcoming album.I just have to wait like I am for Stevie's 24K.

Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham On The Group’s New Album Plans

Extending their tour into 2015 won’t deter Fleetwood Mac from recording what might become their first album in almost three decades of new songs composed by Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks.

During a telephone conversation last week, Buckingham said McVie had presented him with demos of her new compositions. “Piano and voice,” he said. He brought them back to his studio in Los Angeles. With McVie’s approval, he added, “I took massive liberties with them.”

Nicks was “otherwise engaged. A running commentary these days,” he said, perhaps referring to preparations for her exhibition of her self-portrait photography now ongoing at the Morrison Hotel galleries in Los Angeles and New York as well as the release last week of “24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault,” her album of new versions of old, mostly unfamiliar compositions. “Christine and I were able to concentrate on each other,” Buckingham said. “We were exploring some new turf. That became enlightening to me.”

With Christine McVie back in the band for the first time in 16 years, Fleetwood Mac will be on the road through next March. “We never envisioned finishing the album in the short term,” he said. “We set it aside. Stevie will come in and participate. I have material I had been working on. There’s no danger that it will slip between the tracks. It’s too profound to.”

Buckingham hinted the band might tour behind new material. The current “On With The Show” concert tour features only songs from Fleetwood Mac’s hit-making era from 1975 through 1987’s “Tango in the Night,” the last album to feature Buckingham, McVie and Nicks with drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie.

“Once we finish it,” Buckingham said, “we can think about going out and trying something new.”

As for the vibe now among the quintet with Christine McVie back on board, he said, “It’s a very interesting thing when someone who helped to define the interaction leaves for that amount of time. You don’t know how it’s going to play out. But this something that feels really good. It feels really circular.”

I loved this part! I can just hear him say it, too, with slightly raised eyebrows. This does, however, sound promising. I'm glad he said it's not going to fall through the cracks.

I see both sides of the coin, though. I fully understand why Lindsey is annoyed- Christine has come back after a nearly 2 decade absence, and they are working on their first studio album with the 5 in nearly 3 decades. Why wasn't Stevie there, after all, she's always saying she's the last one who would ever end Fleetwood Mac.

On the other hand, Lindsey put up a multi year fence a while back so he could concentrate on his solo career. Stevie is simply doing the same thing herself. Except she's taken a mere fraction of that time to get her solo album banged out. She's even foregone touring behind it.

In any event, I'm glad to hear Lindsey is proclaiming with great certainty that this album WILL happen, and this whole timeline has been planned out since the beginning, and the adding of dates isn't going to change any of it. We rarely get such firm & inclusive reassurances for this band.
