This is the first time I am seeing how Twitter messages look. Gotta say, I'm not bowled over by the technology.

Many people tweet over their phone, instead of on the web and the phone application they use is different for each device (Iphone, Droid, Blackberry, etc.). I've heard them say they like the phone technology better than the website's. Michele |

I wonder if Karen has even bothered checking the "realstevienicks" twitter account, let alone the "reakstevienicks" one Courtney flubbed in her feed. But could you imagine how unbelievably cool it would be for Stevie to record a couple of songs co-written by Linda Perry? Granted, I'm no fan of Pink's, but I think it would be cool to see Mama going the Pink route with a smash hit single three decades after her last hit single. If the world was ready for the domination of Susan Boyle, anything is possible!

[from an article on Courtney]
By TV Guide News - WGGB February 11th, 2015 How did you prepare for the role? Love: I’ve been in acting class hardcore. I’m the oldest person in the acting class. They’re all, like, 20. But my acting class teacher is hard on me, so that’s really good. … I kind of took the diva-ness of Mariah [Carey], who I know socially and really like, but she’s always with four people. She’s got a bodyguard and stuff like that, which I don’t need. Mariah is her own universe and I adore her, but she’s hilarious. Some of Whitney [Houston] and the tragedy of Whitney. A little [Amy] Winehouse I think. We’re following a little of that story. So I mixed it up. A little Stevie [Nicks]. … I always steal from Stevie anyway. |

Stevie should of kept those songs. Malibu is a great song.TISL is a bland album.

I must give her props for being a credible artist. The lyrics are emotionally raw and direct. But I can't imagine Stevie singing this song. It's not her style; she's more abstract and metaphorical in channeling emotion. However, Malibu is a very catchy pop song which suites Stevie perfectly.

I never got into Courtney's music or the 1990's grunge music except a few bands and artists from that era.
I do like the Smashing Pumpkins.

I have Pretty on the Inside, Live through This, and Celebrity Skin, so I do like her music. "Violet," "Credit in the Straight World," and "Plump" are some of my favorite songs. I always wished she didn't have that (very public and disturbing) druggie persona. I think it overshadowed her songwriting and performing in a big--and very unfortunate--way.

I"m not a fan, (I don't really know her music) but I just remember her talking about Stevie's music when "The Dance" came out and she said something like "Stevie's songs are so complicated, filled with interesting key changes". WTF??? I think "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You" changes keys right as it goes into the last verse, but other than that, none of Stevie's songs has a key change. In fact, most of her songs are written in C, with just 3 or 4 chords, (Rhiannon, Dreams, Sisters of the Moon, Straight Back, Beautiful Child, Kind of Woman, How Still My Love, Outside the Rain, No Spoken Word are all basically songs with just C, F, G, and Am). I think Stevie's genius is the fact that her songs work DESPITE her lack of what others would call songwriting skills. But in any case, for me Ms. Love lost all credibility with that quote.

Courtney is well... Courtney.
Regardless this thread was started back in the drought of the last decade. Stevie has released new material and that was all I was hoping for really.A lot of artists could be considered train wrecks at certain points in their lives/careers. And yet the amazing thing about that is that it doesn't stop them from having a positive influence on other people's lives and the world in general. |
