I've gotta say, I do completely adore this song. I remember the VERY FIRST time hearing the sizzle reel, I was INSTANTLY attracted to this song, figuring it was more than likely going to be a fave from the album. And it is!! The line that has really stuck with me is "and even though they were so in love, they drew a line in the sand, just because~" but yes, I do love the love making line as well!!!

This was definitely the standout song on the sizzle reel for me, though the full version was completely different to how I imagined it! It's all those things you've already said: ballsy and sexy, badass and dripping with attitude and confidence. It's powerful in a sinister kind of way, very much like Come.

And those drums just won't get out of my head. The drumming, Doctor, the constant ... drumming.

I hadn't thought about that. I just took it literally, assuming it to be about the novel, but I can see how it could have a duality in its meaning.

I think all of Stevie's songs are really about her, ultimately. Yes, she was inspired by the book/movie, but probably wouldn't have written a song about if it didn't remind her of one of her own relationships. She's basically said this about Moonlight.

And I absolutely thought about Mick when I read the lyrics. That song is drenched in Mick vibes, IMO.

I love your grasp of grammar! Yes, also I found that line very peculiar. How could it be better said?

I used to find Stevie's writing to be a little frustrating because she sometimes composes words/phrases in such odd ways. But now I am more forgiving, accepting that her weird quirks are uniquely hers. I just wish she would use more descriptive words in certain places, For example, she uses the generic word "go" in some of her lyrics, when a another verb would add a little more impact/color.

Citing a line from No Questions Asked, she says "And you miss those arms that used to go around you." I always thought that was kind of weak, where as "wrap around you" or some other word of that nature would have given the line a little more "umph!"

Yes...I mentioned the "make love" line a few months ago. This song wasn't a favorite of mine when I first heard the record but I was struck by her very bold lyrics.

Stevie is almost always grammatically correct in her lyrics, never using "ain't" or double negatives and so on. She has incorrectly substituted "lay' for "lie,' though.
