Default Incredible demo of "Gypsy"

Not sure if most people have heard this before. It's like a whole different song than the one that we're all familiar with, but it's gorgeous. Just Stevie with her voice and piano. It reminds me of a requiem.

I love this, and depending on my mood I go back and forth, sometimes much prefering this to the album version.

Haunting. Really captures the emotion of the song.

I find myself preferring the demo versions of songs to the album versions a lot. They're usually so much more raw and emotional, and less commercialized. Not that I don't love the album versions of course!

I'm much the same way. Many Fleetwood Mac songs were much, much better before they were polished to a blinding sheen (Never Make Me Cry is a perfect example). The beautiful edges and facets are buffed out when songs are polished too much. Stevie's solo career especially suffers from this affliction. To quote board member Vivfox: "Stevie wastes thousands of dollars ruining her songs in the studio."

Oh my God. This is beautiful. Gypsy is most likely my favourite post '75 Mac song so I really, really love the studio version but this.... wow. It's just so raw. Stunning. I actually feel quite emotional, something that I haven't had with a song for quite some time. I think it's because Iknow the song so well, this has kind of blindsided me.

Most of Stevie's demos are much better to me than their released versions with a few exceptions. Gypsy is one of those exceptions. This demo and all the other Gypsy demos I have heard are just horrible. Absolute rubbage. The Mirage version of Gypsy is absolutely amazing and cannot be beaten in any other form. Lindsey Buckingham was the only one who knew what to do with those ghastly demos Stevie had been carting around for years.IMO

Couldn't agree more, mate. This is why I'm a fan of this woman. She can still just melt me uselessly, even after all these years.

Love the video! And the interview clips were a nice touch, she looks great in them.
