Bwana and Johnny Stew are the most off the wall from the Law And Order album, and some would consider them an acquired taste. But I adore them.
Good post, Bee - ditto to ALL this

I would Start with Gift of Screws, Out of the Cradle and Under the Skin. Those are all Brilliant. And all Pretty Different. You cannot not go wrong IMHO.

I always say: go in order.

I tried to go in order with the FM albums. I got the white album and realized I had already heard all the songs before but was still happy to have it. Then when I went to go buy Rumours I was like, I have heard all these songs before I wanna hear something new! So I went with Tusk.
For LB, most of his solo works I have heard have came from Law and Order and Go Insane and I'm looking for something new. I'm also just really into more recent Lindsey stuff.

But who knows what I'll end up with I can't decide.

Well, if you've heard most of L&O and GI, then I'd go with OOTC, UTS, or GOS. Flip a coin. They're all great.

*your eyelids are getting heavy*

First you will purchase Out of the Cradle... you will unwrap it first among the CDs and thumb through the booklet as you listen to it's shimmering genius.

Next you will open Under the Skin and listen intently as you look longingly upon old photo albums that belong to you...

Lastly, open and listen to Gift of Screws, and rock around the room like nobody is watching.

*Annnnnd you're back in the room!*

I have just purchased OOTC, UTS and GOS - I don't know why because I've already got them.

Oh, my eyes feel so tired.....

I just ordered Law & Order
I listened on amazon to the short little preview of the songs. I've heard Bwana, It Was I and Trouble all before. I wasn't crazy about any of them but I mentioned before that Lindsey's songs usually take me a few (hundred) listens before I love them

The idea of going "in order" is what got me. I know I contradict myself a lot.

So we'll see what happens.

My favorite LB album has always been Out Of The Cradle, but recently, I listened to Gift Of Screws again and it might be my new favorite LB album. I would say to get them all, but try to listen to samples on Amazon or iTunes and see which songs sound good to you. I think Lindsey's songwriting has matured since Law And Order. In the first couple of albums and even Tusk, he tends to sing whiny on some songs (the end of I'll Tell You Now, for example, but it's a beautiful enough song for me to love). Since Under The Skin, although he still writes about being "mistaken for a whore" and "They heard fifteen seconds and that was enough, the idea was new but the business was tough", it at least isn't whiny sounding, but I wish he'd get past that and sort of move on from that subject. Don't get me wrong, I still love Bel Air Rain and Underground, but lyrically, you will hear a thread like that running through a song or two on each album. That being said, can't wait for Seeds We Sow.

Yeah, if Lindsey says the executives saw their bonus checks fly out the window when they first heard Tusk again, I'll have to take a leap out of my window.

These darn visionaries.
