I was relistening to the GOS demos for the first time since SYW was released today, and it struck me that some of the vocals on his GOS versions sound exactly like his vocals on his SYW versions. For instance, the Murrow vocal sounds just like the GOS version. So does Red Rover. However, the Say Goodbye vocal sounds different to me.
Can anyone else guess which GOS vocals may have carried over to SYW?

Almost of all of the GOS LB vocal tracks were carried through to the SYW tracks. Say Goodbye sounds different because the SYW version is in a different key. Same goes for Peacekeeper.

Yea, when I heard SG on the album it was a surprise. Now I look at it differently from the GOS verson.

Is Say Goodbye really in a different key? Maybe the mp3 lof Lindsey's version was slightly sped up or slowed down. It sounds like the same instrumental track to me.
It seems to me that the SYW "Come," "Murrow" and "Red Rover" are exactly the same recordings that were on Lindsey's album - not just the vocals but everything. "Peacekeeper," "Miranda," "Bleed to Love Her," "Say Goodbye" and "Steal Your Heart Away" have all obviously had Stevie's voice added, but the instrumental tracks have also been remixed or further overdubbed, it sounds like. Am I correct that "What's the World Coming to" was recorded specifically for SYW? Last edited by squealy; 05-29-2003 at 08:32 PM.. |

GOS Say Goodbye is in G whereas the SYW version is in F#. I too believe that the instrumental parts, or some of them, were slowed down or something (considering that the GOS version was highly sped up anyway). 'Come' and 'Red Rover' are about the only things that came through the process totally intact.

So the tracks that carried over, did Mike and John play on this or did they add them in later?
