I do too... it creates a great atmosphere. I also really like the neat little random things they did with stevie's voice here and there. For instance, during the bridge of the title track (roughly 2:02-2:05) when Stevie sings "it's a beautiful.... daaaaaay." Whatever they do with her voice when she sings "day" is just the coolest little effect. They also let her voice hang out by itself when she sings "day," adding further drama and emphasis to her voice. It's the little things like that which bring me the most pleasure .

First ever post, even tho been worshipping Stevie since the release of Rumours, and reading The Ledge for years too.

Been so looking forward to this album and am in no way disappointed. Could be my favourite ever, but that will take a long time to test.

Congratulations Ms Nicks. A Masterpiece I hope is not your last.

I have to disagree with you there. I think it sounds instantly dated. And I think that particular effect works better with somebody who is generally lacking, not overflowing, in vibrato.

I am blown away.

First of all - I love Moonlight. When she sings "she feels lost, disconnected" - just gorgeous. I knew I would love this song and I do. And I love the chorus.

I also love Annabel Lee. I was not sure how much I would but I do. And I see this being her Rhiannon in concern. I just feel the end of this song has the potential as she saw with Rhiannon.

Ghosts are Gone. I feel that if I walk into Gillys in Vegas, they will be jamming to this song. I can see this as a rock country dancing song. And I think people love it.

Italian Summaer is goreous. Just love that song. She and violins just go together. This could be her new closer. That end note she holds is just amazing.

Wide Sargasso Sea. I was not sure I'd like this from the snippet but I am blown away by it. Absolutely love it.

In Your Dreams - I agree with what has been said - great song. Catchy chorus.

I just am incredibly impressed with this record - start to finish.

Stevie and Dave did a near perfect job.

My update on initial feelings now that I've listened to the album close to a couple dozen times:

I still say this is Nicks' best solo album ever. Every song is a winner. What's been registering with me with repeated listenings:

"For What It's Worth" is really Dylan-esque. There's a real depth to this song that I think a casual listen doesn't register right away.

"In Your Dreams": "I'm just at the other end of your night, I'm always in and out of your life" is a fantastic lyric couplet. Definitely the catchiest song on the album....sometimes catchy songs can be grating in a way, but this one isn't at all.

"Wide Sargasso Sea" has a real haunting quality that grows and grows on you. It's now my second favorite song on the album.

"New Orleans" still sounds like a lost classic Fleetwood Mac song to me. I think this could be a single.

"Moonlight" is still breath-taking and still the centerpiece of the album.

"Annabel Lee" continues to grow on me like "Wide Sargasso Sea" is. I'm beginning to think it's the second centerpiece of this album.

"Soldier's Angel": I really liked this at first because it wasn't at all what I was expecting. The eerie-ness of it really appeals to me. I wondered if after that initial happy-to-be-surprised take if I would like the song less but that hasn't happened yet.

"Everybody Loves You": I still have the same opinion of this song. Another great pop song on the album and potential single #3.

"Ghosts Are Gone": Even though its my least favorite on the album I still love it. The lyrics are awesome and I love the hook that Nicks gets from the way she sings the song.

"You May Be The One" was my least favorite at the first listen but its grown on me a lot since then. I love the slight bluesy sound.

"Italian Summer" is just gorgeous and romantic. I don't care if some on here (and are you people lyricists yourselves?) are carping on the lyrics.

"Cheaper Than Free". I think the simpler lyrics actually fit very well. It's a very warm, heart-felt song. I love it.

And the reading of that line you may be the "righteous one" might be my favorite seconds on the album. The wry, condemnation in her tone, just creates such an emotional high in the song.

Both You May Be The One and Italian Summer remind me of a broadway musical because there are just moments in both songs where you want to cheer and you can imagine an audience reacting as one, erupting in applause when they hear it.

These songs are IMHO together the album's centerpiece the way that Moonlight segues into Annabel is just stunning..it almost makes up for the jarring segue from Soldier's Angel to Everybody Love You.

I just want to say that I'm still taking it all in. The music, the lyrics, the feelings I'm having, both good & bad. I must say that I'm pretty goddamned blown away by how great this album is. I am beyond thrilled. Can't wait to have the CD in my hands on Tuesday.

A couple of posters have transcribed it as "could not happen worse", so I was following the consensus. I just listened again, though, and you're right--it sounds like it could be "could not have been worse."
