I truly believe that extended length will be gratifying. This could be her last record and she doesn't half arse anything!

I love the long Stevie songs. And besides, how can you *really* react to a song that you've never heard just based on its length? The people on here freaking out cuz some songs are over 5 mins. are hilarious.

Stevie's song always run long .That how I like music. As you guys know by now I like softrock music and country music.I never got into heavy rock music as most of my friends did.I do like Stevie's tunes with a little meat on them to get my old blood moving in me.I do love "Cheaper Then Free" I hope that tune goes somewere.3:38
is a ok song lenth for radio .also Secret Love at 3:15 is great for radio.Sometimes radio does shy away from longer tunes. I hope this CD gets good airplay for Stevie. I hope they play the crap out of it.I dont know how many more she can record. The next probably with the boys of FM.And we dont know how many more they will record after if they recocrd next year.

ETA: Also, no Stevie song is over 5 minutes on SYW. In fact, only the "epic" "Come" is over 5 (clocking in at 6:00). That means Stevie "Comes" EIGHT times on this ablum.
Now see, when she says she's happy now in Love Is, this is the reason I believe her.

Personally, I love longer songs! I am soooooooo excited, I can't wait til May 3! I also ordered the "limited fan edition" from Warner Bros., so I can get the extra track. I may just be a new fan of Stevie's, but I'm making up for (a lot of!) lost time with passion

I like the longer songs too, I was just very surprised that so many of them are so long. A radical departure!

I've always loved Stevie's "epic" longer songs, but I am a little concerned about the lack of editing in relation to this album. Whilst I've always been on board with Dave's involvement, the "poetry reciting" approach to the lyric writing has troubled me from the moment I read about it. Of course, it always depends on the song and two tracks from Trouble In Shangri-La are a case in point - "Planets Of The Universe" shouldn't have been edited as the single long version is superior, whilst "Fall From Grace" benefitted from the removal of some rather embarrassing, longwinded lyrics as heard in the demo version. I do remember that Stevie stated in an interview last year that she had commented to Dave upon playback of the sessions that the songs were generally quite long and that he had assured her the editing process would take care of things, but perhaps not...

mayhap some of the songs were 10 or 15 minutes long?

Having heard the album now I really have to LMAO at the person who said they were "afraid" that the album would be bad just from knowing the song lengths alone.

The song lengths will keep it off radio, without them releasing a radio-edit version. But it plays extremely well on the CD.
