Thumbs up Lindsey B. to be Playing on American Idol Tonight?

Came across this on FB- something about some twitter correspondence and Ryan Seacrest's radio show:

"Lindsey Buckingham stepping in for an ailing Jeff Beck on tonight's Idol per Nigel on Seacrest radio today"

Anyone know of any truth to this?

sorry i just read he wont be on either.

Tonight on Idol: Jeff Beck canceled due to Illness. Lindsey Buckingham was onboard for a hot minute, now he can't make it either...

False alarm. Lindsey was on board, now he can't do it, according to @RSP

There might have been a risk of me respecting Lindsey Buckingham a little less if he were to appear on a tv talent show. I hate the kind of programs that are designed to pump out expendable corporate fodder in order to make money. They're slitting the throat of the "real" music industry and being paid to drink its still warm blood.

Extreme, but that's how I feel.

i don't think it would have been that bad for the man to go to american idol and show them what talent really is! janet RIPPED it! when big celebs go............i think it's great because THEY are what those kids are striving to be. am i wrong to think this way?

I hope not. Sure she has mad vocal talent, but she's sooooo boring could possibly be this generations version of Whitney, Mariah or Celine...UGH!
I don't know why I bother watching this show, I enjoy the competition part of the show, but I can't really say I care about these people as artists or would be interested enough to bother buying their cd's.

Pretty much everyone who's ever won X Factor over here has been ridiculously boring. But they're all pretty boring on American Idol this year... felt the same about last year. The year before that though was awesome, Von Smith, Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen were great, and I dunno where to begin with Adam Lambert...

I wonder if he canceled cuz he found out that the man who stole his dream and ruined his life is on the show.

Which begs the question: in what function would Lindsey have been participated? Playing during one of the singers? OR performing guitar on the studio tracks for everybody? OR mentor?

I know Ryan Seacrest is a turd, but surely that's a little harsh?

Default Lindsey was supposed to be on American Idol tonight

Tidbits: Elton John sales up; Jeff Beck drops out tonight; Ryan Seacrest most powerful reality guy
5:24 pm April 6, 2011, by Rodney Ho

Tidbit-a-rama:

- Elton John song sales skyrocketed after “Idol” last week. Biggest digital sellers: “Tiny Dancer” (sung by Stefano Langone) followed by “Bennie and the Jets” (Haley Reinhart) and “Your Song” (Casey Abrams).

- Rock guitarist Jeff Beck is sick so he was to be replaced tonight by Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) for tonight’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-themed night, according to Nigel Lythgoe. But later, apparently, Lindsey fell through, too. So there are no superstar guitarists for tonight’s show. Nigel’s probably calling all over town looking for someone with Hall of Fame creds to pop by, canoodle a bit with the band or at least wave from the audience.
