Just a question to the moderators: this thread is the very FIRST MOMENT that most of us came across the Movie Trailer Premiere (thanks largely to Jondalar's observation and sleuthing). Can this thread be "stickied" to the top of the Stevie board for a few weeks? What do you think?
http://www.youtube.com/user/StevieNicks It's a big deal! |

."The story is very Shakespearean, and is about two doomed lovers. This time, however, Jihei (Kichiemon Nakamura) is married and has two children, while Koharu (Shima Iwa****a) is a high-priced courtesan in the red light district". ![]() ![]() ![]() Back on topic, I've gorged wayyY too much on the trailer the last few days that I'm forcing it into temporary retirement. These clips keep playing over and over in my head, haunting me. So with only 4 1/2 weeks to go, and now that I feel I have a good sense of this record, any fears I've had have been quelled. I'll just gonna sit back and enjoy the rest of the ride. I do hope we get to hear another entire track before release date. But I'm pretty sure in about 3 1/2 more weeks, closer to May 3rd, the record will be available to preview/listen via promotional streaming. Again, the song that I'm completely obsessed with is "Moonlight". More so after someone on this board who's claimed to have heard the song yesterday stated: he "did not like the Moonlight song at first...it does not have that big driving feel throughout like the snippet...it seemed long and a little sluggish before it built to what you hear in the video". Regardless, I'm pretty sure I'll love this song. So if it does have peaks and valleys musically, that is even more intriguing to me. I love when a songs builds and builds to a climax. I think I've played the Sizzle Reel roughly a thousand times since it appeared online.
I've read little bits and pieces on this board about how the production seems to resemble Trouble in Shangri-La, and I definitely agree. "Moonlight" automatically reminded me of "Planets of the Universe." If there is some sort of longer, drawn out intro reminiscent of "Lady from the Mountains" prior to the part of "Moonlight" we hear in the reel, even better! I wouldn't be surprised if this song ended up on the next Twilight film's soundtrack, given the zillion times Stevie has mentioned it as her inspiration. Maybe that's part of her master plan? The clip we've determined is likely "Wide Sargasso Sea" is by far the most interesting piece of the reel. I'm partial to cheesy filmmaking, so the deep sea diving girls in purple dresses and the heavy duty fog machine fog are instantly awesome to me. Stevie's vocals on this one are intense...arguably the most intense ones I've heard since "Fall From Grace" and "Everybody Finds Out." I'm hoping we get at least ONE live version of it. I know how quickly new tunes get dropped from the set... The one thing that really surprised me in this thread was the lack of unanimous love for "Italian Summer." David Wild's tweet last year primed me up for loving it, and the clip in the reel certainly didn't disappoint. I have played the reel for several friends, none of whom are Stevie fans, and they all got chills when she hits the "You just have to faaaaaaaaaaall" part. I have a sinking suspicion we'll hear her referring to "Italian Summer" as the "fourth ballad" on tour this summer. Or, more likely, she'll call it the "third ballad" because she loves the number three and is prone to rewriting her own history. ![]() |

MSG flashback! I had forgotten to report that during her Love Is intro, she referred to it as the third and final ballad of her career. I thought that was weird given "Italian Summer" and ... why see her career in terms of finality? Weird also cuz it would have been a good chance to bring up Italian Summer and her new album.

I've never understood her rationale on this one, since I count "Doing The Best I Can" as a ballad and "The Highwayman" as one too, yet they're overlooked in her little spiel. |

yeah, I thought about that too, but I think these songs will sound fine together and we haven't heard the last bits of Cheaper than free. Ijust hope it doesn't sound tacked on.

I never listened to "Love Is" all the way through until she added it to the set last summer. I'm happy I finally did, because it's a solid song, but I'm not sure it's on par with the other two...at least not thematically.

Are you counting the demo version? It is far superior to the album version and well worthy of the 3rd spot.

I think Cheaper works as a closer. It's kind of like the cigarette after the climax of Italian Summer.
The last note in the video of Summer IS that last note of the song... |
