To get ready for Stevie's NEW NEW NEW songs on In Your Dreams, I made a new playlist of all of the known songs that Stevie wrote between 1995-2002. What a strong collection of material!

There are some pretty good songs there but if you compare it to the songs she wrote between 1975 or so to 1982That would be one of the most impressive runs of any female rock songwriter ever IMHO.

Yay! Someone else who likes Love Changes! One of my favourite songs on TISL!

Double Yay! More fans and love for Love Changes! I think it could of been the 1st single off TISL. Anyway I love the lyrics esp. "That as hard as I tried to make it all better...It was not better for me". & "I am not happy, and I am not crazy. Are you listening, do you hear?" When TISL was released I was in a relationship that was unraveling, and played this song over and over. Stevie's lyrics really hit the nail on the head for me. "That don't mend the sorrow, or reinvent the pleasure..."

Here are my favorites of the ones you listed:

Trouble In Shangri-la ~ What's there to say, cept' pure Stevie Brilliance.
Destiny Rules ~ Classic sounding Stevie & FM song. The production in the chorus is reminiscent of Gypsy to my ears.

Twisted ~ Twister soundtrack ~ Beautiful simple song with lyrics that hit you deeply.
Bombay Sapphires ~ This has risen and become one of my favorite songs during the last 10 years.

Touched By An Angel ~ Sweet November soundtrack
Illume ~ Haunting. Leaves me Haunted.
Sweet Girl
Have No Heart ~ Unreleased demo - Shame she did not pull this one out for IYD, seems perfect for the gothic themes (Moonlight & Annabel Lee) and tone from the record cover. And I think this song is brilliant! I rank it among her best songwriting.
I Miss You ~ Can never get enough of this song. I wish the fade out went on for 30 more seconds. Her Ooh's at the end are pure blissssss.

You're Not The One ~ Soak Up The Sun UK CD-Single -groovy song with attitude - LOVE IT! Wish Stevie recorded it solo.
Everybody Finds Out
Love Is ~ Unreleased demo ~ STUNNING! I love equally both the demo and recorded versions. This song takes you on a journey. And by it's end I always have the biggest smile on my face.
Say You Will ~ Fun song and the lyrics are clever.

And I think its reasonable to add Planets of The Universe to this list. Since Stevie wrote 2 brand new verses, and re-arranged the tempo of the demo, of a waltz - which is 3 beats in a bar - to the more common 4/4 tempo to add a contemporariness to her original composition. I think of the finished version and demo versions of Planets as 2 different songs really.

Christopher, there are a few songs that I've felt would be a premonition of my life, and "Love Changes" was one in 2001. And, yep, in 2006, when my 15-year relationship broke up, "Love Changes" was one of those songs that had already told the story (as was Kate's "You're The One", stretching back to 1993, yet still foretelling the future.) And I've freely admitted that I'm not "Stevie" in "Love Changes", but, rather, the one being sung to. So, I love the song dearly, and yet it hurts to hear it every time, even still.

Good call on "Planets Of The Universe"~!!! Yep, it's pretty much a new song.

Another thing I was trying to say in my first post was that Stevie was still writing new lyrics that meant something to me. Her lyrics made me a fan initially in 1981 as much as her voice. The words she wrote were always able to fit my life somehow. And I'm amazed at 20 years later, in 2001-2003, that Stevie was still writing relevant lyrics. "Say You Will" says as much for me as "Angel" and "Silver Springs" did in 1982.

I remember when Stevie & FM came back to Dallas in 2004 for the second year of the Say You Will tour. My dog Jaxon had just died, and I was desolate. Eric & I decided to go to the concert anyway. Of course, it was amazing to see Stevie perform "Sara" again, but... MY night was made when "Say You Will" started. See, "Say You Will" had not been part of some of the earlier 2004 shows, but Stevie brought it back in time for Dallas, and the words touched me so much, reminding me of Jaxon...

Awesome to see these listed this way. It shows that she is actually still writing and not just pulling out old demos all the time. Thanks for sharing! I'm very excited for the new project too.

Agreed! Love Changes has always been one of my favs from TISL, due in part to the fantastic production job by David Kahne. It's so light and poppy, it doesn't feel nearly as dense and crowded as most of the other songs on the record. I do wish he has produced the entire record. I wondered how it would have sounded...

Ooh part of me does agree with this although I would say more like 1975 - 1985 to include some of her RAL material.

And this has become a Love Changes appreciation thread and I love it! Such a feel-good song, always puts me in better mood. Even if they lyrics aren't all that upbeat, the music is and that's why I do love it yes indeed.

yeah..why that level of collaberation between her and Lindsey could not have carried over into SYW is a bit bewildering.

it was so unexpected and incredible!!! after the years of vitriol between the two. they came out with this incredible song! yet SYW was sooooooo detached. i love the record , but Twisted seemed like a true collaboration.
