Cool to see behind the scenes-thank you for posting it. Re: Microphone- Stevie likes to play with the ribbons when she's nervous or fidgety. While she looked cool, calm and collected, being on camera doesn't seem to be her favorite spot. The microphone is just one of the little comfort idiosyncrasies we are used to seeing her with on stage if she doesn't have a tamborine to occupy herself. In this day and age she doesn't really need a standing microphone to perform, but I think it's part of her comfort zone.

I've also just heard the Louise Goffin version on youtube - oh dear! It's dreadful! I really, really don't like her voice at all. I'm not precious about others doing Stevie's material (and she's on backup on it anyway) but this is just BAD!

It's part of her stage act and without it, something would feel missing I think. Her decorated microphone is as much a character on stage as she is. Stevie's not an artist who'd look right just walking around stage performing with a wrap around mic to her face.

Anyway, I think it is something she can hide behind. Also, she doesn't have to dance much if she has the mic on a stand. If I ever become a singer, I'd use a mic on a stand for sure, and not carry it in my hand or use a head-set.

Some of our current "stars" who perform with a mic piece and all the fireworks and background dancers and all that nonsense happening, are just trying to distract your eyes and ears from the fact they're really not so talented at all, just fortunate to land a deal today.

I also can't help but think how HOT Stevie would have looked for this vid with different clothes and hair. What a beautiful lady held back by frumpiness...

I agree --Stevie does look a little frumpy here. In the seventies/eighties she really mixed it up fashion wise. But she's gone a little stale. She could look so much better: more approachable with just a few adjustments. Yet, I know nothing about women's fashions, so who am I to suggest anything!

She looks so serious in this footage. There's absolutely nothing lively about her demeanor. I suspect she is sometime not easy to work with...a bit of a prima-donna. I'm sure she lets loose and lightens up on ocassion, but primarily she seems like she carries a very heavy aura -- the type of moody person who be exhausting to be around.

I love her seriousness and all business Queen-like demeanor. She's earned that right and to me it wouldn't make her a bitch. I don't think she looks frumpy either, if anything, beautiful and buttoned up and crisp clean polished. She loves her black, she'll wear other colors at times and at least we know she owns them. Again though, we don't all have to like the same things so it's all ok.

I kept waiting for SN's wailing Drano backup vocal in close-up ("ohohohohoaagggh-h0haoooah") -behind 'and the days go by',- but we never get one in these 2 clips. I seem to recall in the video there was one close up, of her belting out those delish background vocal vowels.
Anyone else--I wonder? - I think this song has vastly improved with age, and stands as some of her strongest work. At the time, I liked it. Liked it swell. If not blown away by it.
Now, I think it's almost of greatness. We haven't heard that Stevieish rash of high notes belted in the background here and there, very much since- my favorite part of her voice.
Chart or cert info, anyone? Was the PM soundtrack certified gold, or platinum? Neither?
I recall promo 45s of the song in plain white sleeves, and a radio promo cd single with a nice pic sleeve, and vH1 airplay was strong. But, in the end, the song didn't do much, or did it?
Would be nice to find out it was a top 5 AC song and I never knew it.
