The majority of the kids here ( about half way between Seattle and Tacoma ) are pretty nice. Except for the fact that it seems like one little ( actually, probably not so little ) houligan each year steals one of our pumpkins My son and I take a lot of time choosing them, and then my husband puts a lot of time into carving them, and they look really good, so it's disheartening when one comes up missing

That's really sad. To think how much time he put into them, and then some kid steals them from your place, and you know exactly where it is going to end up! (thrown at the road so cars drive over them). Some kids think their cute when they do things like this.

Yeah, you're exactly right...thanks for understanding! I hate it when I see them crushed in the road! My son was kinda sad ( like me ) the first time it happened, but he just rolls with it now. One year we had the most perfect little jack-o-lantern. He was just a little bigger than a baseball, and classic shape, really round and smooth. He was so small we weren't going to carve him ( him... ), but then my husband gave it a go anyways, and made the traditional little face on him. We put him on our lamp post by the driveway. When we went out to blow out the candles later in the evening, he was gone So now, we keep the littlest pumpkins closest to the house to protect them

That's him, on the right:

Oh my Gosh! When I looked at the picture before reading what you wrote, I thought he was a fake one that you bought at the store!! That IS a perfect little pumpkin He did an awesome job!! I love him, haha. (the jack-o-lantern) Sorry "he" was stolen. Here's hoping he didn't suffer too much of a horrible death. thanks for sharing the pic!

That's awesome jack-o-lanterns you got there. I don't think I ever carved one, but I got pumpkins for many years from out east on the North Fork. Hell, I was just out there yesterday, making jokes about a tourist trap farmstand trying to steal "from them cityfolk" (you gotta understand that, way out east on Long Island, the South Fork has all the rich people in the Hamptons and the North Fork is mainly farmland that is ripe for idiots like me from more developed areas to make bad jokes about how, among the wineries, the sod farms are "giant fields of grass" when I was little)

Sadly, I didn't get a pumpkin this year and I'm yet to have problems with kids throwing it into our oh-so (read: not) busy street, the kids running across my lawn doesn't hold a candle to that brat Maybe you should set up a camera, see who it is, and give his parents what for!

I guess being a crazyman in all those pics got him tired, or maybe it has to do with whatever substance he was on at the moment (first pic that is)

And Bee, since we have learned that kids in New Brunswick pound on the door as hard as they could, kids in Downstate New York run across lawns, and kids in Seattle-Tacoma smash pumkns, what do they do in your neck of the woods?

Oh, kids around here do the usual stuff. Eggs, Dog Links and other nasties at windows/throw letterboxes. Knock and run is a tradition. If you're very lucky one of the thugs may just post a lit firework. Yeah. Children are rough around here. An 8 year old boy who just so happened to be a friend of my cousin was recently found out, having commited arson against the local Chinese Takeaway. Burnt it to the ground :s.

I guess it depends from area to area. Mine just isn't a very good one. I really cannot wait to leave and go somewhere nicer or at least more interesting. Maybe somewhere in America if I can.

America...well, have you considered New York, by any chance?

It was one of my thoughs, but the fact that it's a huge city deters me a little. I'm a rural girl, and the giant ant farm scares me a little lol. I was thinking maybe Kansas, or Alaska as I really don't mind cold.

If you don't mind cold, Canada is the place to be Really though, it's not that bad...only like 8 months a year

Alberta is a wonderful place, very beautiful. The rocky mountains are one of my favorite places in the world! Something to consider, Bee.

While I don't know how much of the photograph's beauty is down to photoshopping, it is absolutely breathtaking non the less. It is another place to consider, definitely. Too bad I don't like Maple Syrup. (rofl! Only joking! I'm not that ignorant lol!)

No worries, I don't like it either. Way too sweet. Which is funny cause my family had a maple syrup camp (sap camp) up river.

I took this picture in Banff, Alberta. No photoshop, promise
