Default John's new (?) bass

Ok, from the beginning:

Back in the Then Play On days, John played a Fender Jazz bass, then around Bare Trees he switched to a Fender Precision (which he played for a long time...and even after switching his MAIN bass, he still would play on certain songs, i.e. "I'm So Afraid")...then around Mystery To Me he switched to Alembic (Rick Turner designed basses). I forget what he used as his main bass during The Dance tour, but on the "acoustic" numbers he used a Turner Renaissance, RB-4.

I see, from the photos Les posted of the Today show performance, John's now using a Turner Electroline...it almost seems as though Fleetwood Mac has kept Rick in business.

During the Dance, John used that gibson Tobias most of the time- except for when he used the turner. I didn't see any pics of him using the Fender that time.

In some of the SYW studio pictures, John still has the tobias.. but I didn't notice what he was playing on the Today show. I'll have to go back and look at the pictures! I love the Renaissance bass. it looks comfortable, but I bet it's heavy as hell.. is it a solidbody? i don't remember that funky soundhole in the corner on the bass, but it could just be me being mental again.

The Renaissance RB-4 is so light, the first time I picked one up, I almost threw it through the ceiling!!! (same with the RN-6 & RS-6 guitars!). Definitely, no shoulder fatigue with THOSE!

Wow.. That surprises me. They look heavy in pictures. Is the Model 1 heavy? I can't imagine that it doesn't weigh more than a sack of cinderblocks.

Also.. does Turner still make that funky T-Bird guitar?

The turner John's using on the Today show looks a lot like the tobias.. maybe he's abandoned it for this and I couldn't tell in the pictures.

But I remember him talking about the tobias and his style with drop tunings in some article when the Dance came out.

(edit: Do you go to Turner's 'factory' to try all these out.. or is there a shop that's authorized to sell turners where you live? The closest authorized seller is like, the entire length of the state away, so I've never had the pleasure of playing one. Grr.)
