Default Demo or newer version?

this album is new but old in the sense that some of the songs are pretty old.

I found with Trouble in shangrila the songs that were demos before were better on that album.

Do you think that's the case with this album?

as far as I know you have these songs that were former demos

Thrown Down(Thrown Down-outakes and other versions)
goodbye Baby(the tower)
smile at you(smile at you)
Running through the Garden(running through the Garden)
Bleed to love her(Bleed to love her dance version)
Not make believe(not make believe-outtake)

If you've heard the other versions of course..which do you like better?

Default mmmhmm

I so agree, that's my biggest beef
Smile at you lost all it's punch in the translation, for a while I thought it was cause the album is pretty mellow but Come has some hard stuff in it.

I do like Running through the garden a lot, the orig is great too but my version is so bad in the sound dept that this one makes it great to listen to.

Give me "Thrown Down" Wall of sound version, "The Tower" and "Smile At You" Mirage era outtake. They are far superior to what is on the album. Although "Goodbye Baby" is quite good in it's own right..

I absolutely love both versions of RTTG so I don't think I would choose.

dear god... i'm so sickened from this crap already

*people CHANGE in a 20 year time period, so does their art! if you don't like their current art- go buy a 50 Cent CD and chill out.
*FM made a CLASSIC, epic album, i'm PROUD of them and 100% satisfied with the result.
*now go ahead, get back to your beloved demos, with their wonderful instrumentation, production and superb sound quality, sit back and enjoy them if you can, but stop wyning! your crying disturbs me while i listen to the album!!!

damn party poopers...

Man...relax. We are allowed to have our opinions and there is no need to get worked up about it. You loved the album 100%..hey that's great. I like almost all of it and I think it's great... it's not like I was saying that the album was terrible. I actually do like all of those songs I listed, I just like the demos of "The Tower", "Smile At You", and the outtake version of "Thrown Down" better. I'm sorry if that offends you.

Take a chill pill.

i actually just did (note eric cartman...) and nothing's changed! i'm sorry, but i'm SO fed up with all those "i like the demos better" crying here lately, to the point that it really pisses me off
as i already said, i think this is FM's best work in decades, SURE stevie can't sing stuff the way she did 20 years ago, and SURE some lyrics and structures had to be modifed to reflect the artists current state of mind, if they just took old stuff and put it the same way the outcome result would have been lame and pointless (Red Rover anyone??? ). artists change and so does their art, in this case i think the changes are beyond honorable.

I am not quite sure why we even think we have the right to complain about demo vs. album versions, considering we aren't really supposed to have the demos.I'll admit,i was worried about what they were gonna do with RTTG,but even if it had been different, who cares?? I am just glad that they are doing new music for god's sake...

Sarah, Fiercest, put it right, we're not even supposed to have the demos...but I consider it a blessing (ok I'm hokey ) that the Internet has enabled me to finally get to have these wonderful songs. But I try to consider them as separate unique songs from the final released songs so the contrast and compare analysis for me is null and void.

However, saying that, I sure wish Lindsey's or his people, Mick or his people, Stevie or her people, would leak a good version of the Running thru the Garden demo now that a final released version exists. c'mon Lindsey, with your production skills a great mp3 version of the demo should be easy...

Default get over it

we DO have the demos, we DO have the right to like one over the other, what sort of totalitarian foolishness are you running?

I like the demos better..end..of..discussion

If people like the demos better to the point where you're tired of them saying so..well that should just inform you even more how much more they like the demos, you don't see them making a big deal about how much you like the newer versions do you?

people do change in 20 years and that's why I love TISL, the TISL versions are much better than the demos because they were reworked in a way I prefer, this time it's not the case.

Good Christ, don't get your knickers in a twist! If you like the demos better, than that is just peachy keen with me there baby doll..but don't go around calling me totalitarian,i was just expressing an opinion. As a matter of fact..i LOVE the demo of Smile at You better than the album cut..but i don't feel inclined to bemoan this fact to the enth degree..cause it is a waste of time. You like the demos, listen to them. You like the album, listen to that.

I think the original version of Thrown Down was much better. This one doesn't quite cut it for me. I like it but the original one is better.
