I don't understand all the dislike for Silver Girl. Whilst it may not be Stevie's greatest moment, it's far from her worst and actually ranks well amongst the other tracks on the Say You Will album. I think her vocal on Silver Girl is definitely one of her best in the last twenty years - it almost harks back to the Bella Donna days in terms of quality.

I guess I'm just put off by the Silver Girl lyrics, which start off badly and then descend from there. Then, the music is not arresting. It doesn't capture me on it's own. I guess I never got far enough past those two things to even appreciate her vocals, as I should.

She was a silver girl, lost in a high tech world
She was a golden girl, immersed in a hard core world

To come home to that, directly after I've spent a long night running through the garden . . . it just seems too much to bear.

Silver Girl is bland. It's got decent lyrics, but it's just bland. It's better than Sweet Girl, which is truly awful.

I agree! Sweet Girl is another personal fav. I think that everything about Silver Girl is nice. The music, the production, the lyrics, and that vocal is exceptional!

The following is from a new Dave Stewart interview courtesy of ethrill.net (http://ethrill.net/2010/05/19/the-bu...part-2-of-2/):

If I understood correctly you are also working on two solo albums, one in English, one in French and one album with a bunch of super famous friends…
Quote:
I’ve been working on a French one for ages but I don’t speak French well enough to write poetic translations of my words so I was doing that with Carla Bruni but she got married to the president of France and got quite busy so I’ve got about three quarters made. I have been doing duets with different artists, that’s why we are going to Greece, we are shooting the video for the Anna Vissi duet and then I’m gonna play it live with her on their version of the sort of „MTV Awards“, the „Balkan Music Awards“ or something like that. And I’ve also just done a duet with Stevie Nicks. But these are all songs I’m just writing or co-writing with other people, and at the same time I’m always recording little sessions of songs myself, building up to having enough for a solo thing, but … it’s all getting a bit busy.
Now before any of you doubters go crazy, Dave is referring specifically to his upcoming solo projects, one of which might feature a duet with Stevie (or perhaps won't as he has mentioned above). I assume Dave's duet album will be quite separate from Stevie's solo album that he is producing. He is already on record stating that they are working on her solo album and that six songs have been recorded (I imagine completed) so perhaps their duet will be on her album as opposed to his solo project which actually seems rather vague and indefinite. Sessions for Stevie's album resume in June so don't anyone lose heart - her solo album will be made.
