Ohhhhh, so that's how they are gonna try and explain "Goodbye Baby/The Tower" ~ as an end to a romance?!?! Do we look like a bunch of knuckleheads?

I'm getting the impression that Chris wanted to do just that - record and not tour. But the rest of the band must have felt that if one of her new songs became a hit, they wouldn't be able to perform it live. In that case, The tour wouldn't be able to truly support the new material. So they politely declined her offer to work on the new album. I think the interviews all sound kinda weird when they refer to Chris because they all want to say "Look, if she had wanted to tour, she'd be here!"

I don't see Stevie's comment as a dig at Lindsey's marriage, although I can see how it could be interpreted that way. I think she's talking musically and creatively. (I don't think she's brazen enough to talk smack about Lindsey's wife like that.) I think the writer took a liberty with prefacing that sentence with the fact that Stevie is still single.

Yeah, I don't buy that one either. It just doesn't add up.

Talking Lol, Gazza...

But think about the mixed messages about her romantic life on this album...
Smile At You, Thrown Down, Everybody Finds Out and Destiny Rules are all about relationships...but all very different relationships, or at least very different phases of relationships, and possibly different people.

GREAT article otherwise....I LOVE this part!! LOL

"If I had my way, I would have started the album with the material most likely to offend as many people as possible," Buckingham says with a giggle. "Stevie would bury all that stuff at the end."

OFFEND, LINDSEY, OFFEND!!!!! LOL

This part makes me go hmm...

"Nicks, who remains unattached, says of her relationship with Buckingham, "We can never replace each other."

Does anyone else think that is a lil teeny slam regarding Kristen?? Was Stevie saying that him marrying Kristen, he's trying to replace Stevie and that he really doesn't love her?!?! I'm reading too much into that quote, I know, but it just caught me off guard at first reading.

BTW, thanks for posting that article!!!!
I think SN is referring to their musical relationship, etc. But, you never know with those two . Also, SN has said that she and LB's wife are friends. So, I am not reading too much into this. Alsom as we all know ( ), printed word and quotes, can be taken alot of unintentional ways and out of context.

Ok, here's my take.....

This guy's got his stuff a little mixed up......19 million in sales........Lindsey IS a year YOUNGER than Stevie, and she's 54, making him only 53 at this point. But all in all, seems like a good chap, with a very favorable view of everything, so we like him!!!!

I don't really think there's too much more to the Christine story than what they're saying. She didn't enjoy touring and living out of a suitcase and bouncing from town to town for months and months, she was having personal problems, and she wished to be back in the place that she was born and raised and has family in. If I remember correctly, I believe it was Mick who recently said that Christine would have wanted to record with the band, but that she refused to tour, and that they couldn't have her do one and not the other to support it, so it was decided by all that she would do nothing then. I know if I were in the band, I wouldn't want her to join in on the recording, offering wonderful songs, then not bothering to tour with everybody else. I'm sad knowing Chris won't be at the shows, and we won't be able to see her or hear her with them anymore, it's a shame. But you're either on board, or your not. Look what happened when Lindsey did that very thing in 1987--(not even discussing the huge blow-up fight) but he's on all the songs on the album, and was on none of them on the tour--what would those songs have sounded like in their original form, live, in '87, with Lindsey playing and singing!!?? Who knows!!!
The fact that they really haven't associated with her too much is, I would imagine, due to the fact that she's quite a distance away from the four of them now, and I'm sure they're all busy with their lives. As this writer has gotten other things wrong, I think perhaps he may have embelished a little. Surely they don't speak with Christine all the time, but certainly I don't believe that they never talk to her. And I know for a fact that Stevie has talked about how Christine is missed terribly.....so I don't think they're speaking weird about her. Just that she's not there, they miss her, they let her go and moved forward. I agree, Christine just might speak out herself one of these days, after this album is released and the tour is truckin' on.

I really wonder which of Chris' songs they're going to do in concert. I was a little surprised reading that they were going to do SEVERAL of her songs......it'll be interesting to see and hear who does what!!!!

Now on to:
"Buckingham marvels that "after all this time, Stevie and I still have something to give each other." (He has been married to Kristen Messner since 2000.) Nicks, who remains unattached, says of her relationship with Buckingham, "We can never replace each other.""
This could be taken as some type of slam......or maybe she means that different people mean different things to different people.....just because someone can never replace someone else in a person's life, doesn't mean that nobody else can ever be good for them, or please them, or love them, etc. And if you take what Stevie said as a slam to Kristen, then you can take what Lindsey said as a slam to his own wife as well. What exactly do they still have to give to each other? Huh, Lindsey???

Thanks for posting this article Mike!!! Enjoyed the read!!

Stephanie

Arrow Stephanie...

THAT is why I'm confused by her statement!! LOL The reporter puts Lindsey's quote right before that quote and they don't match up as to talking about the same thing, IMO. "Isn't that wierd?" Hehe.

The author said they "rarely" speak to Christine... not that they never speak to her.

All members of Fleetwood Mac (well, this particular five) have often said over the years that they're rarely in contact with each other, when they're not recording and touring. So I don't see this as a sign that some great falling-out occurred.

And I really don't think Stevie's comments about "never replacing each other" were a slam against Kristen.
If you've ever truly loved someone, you know that you can never replace them. You may find someone else whom you love just as much, or even more... but it's always in a different way.
If someone is just in your life to "replace" someone else, it doesn't say much for the relationship.

Besides, in 2001 Stevie made the statement that Lindsey is *not* the love of her life, and that another man... whom she declined to name... was.
She stated that her and Lindsey are only musical soulmates.
