No way. I think you're perfect at your height. I like tall hunkish men over puny ones.

I'm 6'5" and, thanks to the holidays, about 230# now. However, I have a pretty big frame from which to hang the drapes so it's all good.

5'7 and 120. I'm kind of torn on what to do with my body at this point. 125 seems to be the weight that I float at if I don't eat well or exercise. My body naturally has an exaggeratedly small waist, but at 125, my legs aren't as toned as I would like, and my stomach not quite as flat. I can get myself down to 117 fairly easily with exercise, but I can't decide if I want to put in the effort to be noticeably that tiny, or if I want to eat whatever I want for the rest of the break and still be in good shape, though not as impressivealy so, when I get back to school. I realize this whole post probably seems ridiculous. Practical application: I can't decide if I want to go downstairs and have homemade chocolate chip cookies for breakfast. I think I do.

Edit with a question: Has anyone's base weight that they float at changed? I used to be naturally heavier than I am now, not by much, but without exercise, I would be around 135. In college, though, those ten pounds just disappeared. Is it an age thing? My lifestyle hasn't changed at all.

I'm the happiest with my body, that I've ever been in my life!
I'm 5'10". And since I was about 10, I've always been at least 15-20 lbs overweight(usually about 180-185). Well, **** rolls downhill. Cut to three years ago, and I was up to 215. Now, I don't really have a big frame, although people actually (did) think of me as a pretty big guy. Well, three years ago, at a family dinner, my big mouthed aunt(one of those, who blurts out anything that crosses her mind), said, "David, you're just getting too fat, and you need to do something about it!" Well, god bless her big mouth! So, I lost about 30-35, and got down to about 180. Much better, but still not where I wanted to be. But, I lived with that weight comfortably, until about last August. Relationship-wise, I'd been alone forever, and finally decided that I was tired of being alone. Well, that decision alone, allowed me to REALLY start calorie counting, and laying down some Nazi laws for myself. I only eat red meat about once a week now. I love salad anyway, and about 5 days a week, I only have a big salad for dinner. And I drink at least 2 liters of water, every afternoon.
I just woke up now, and got on the scales........151!!!!!!!!! I've not weighed 151 since probably 7th grade. Last weekend, I had the ultimate compliment of my life, when a friend said, "look at you....you're scrawny!" And while "wonderful humanitarian" would be a nicer compliment....for someone who's had a lifelong battle with weight, "scrawny" felt like victory!
I've become a clothes WHORE, in the past couple of months, finally able to buy clothes that show my body, not hide it! No more black shirts for me! My favorite shirts(that I've been scouring Goodwill's for,) are American Eagle Outfitter polo shirts, "vintage fit". They fit snug(without being too snug). And no more XL's for me...mediums, and some SMALLS fit! And in jeans, I'm wearing 29 and 30" waist. Again, hello 7th grade size!

I've made a new me, and I'm thrilled with this new chassis!
Btw, no drugs(I've heard several "lay off the cocaine" jokes), no diet pills, nada. Just a Nazi willpower, to reinvent myself.

NO idea what my float weight is anymore. Having a kid screws everything up, you have no clue what's normal anymore.

As for you, missy, 117 is too thin bordering on unhealthy, IMO. What if you focused more on weight training for health reasons/toning as opposed to cardio? Do you still lose weight with just weights?

Dude. Scrawny is not a compliment! That's like those morons who say "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." F*ck that. You're the size of my husband now, and he's a skinny bastard. Put on about 10 pounds, I say.

I'm glad you're happy but jesus, that's thin.

I've seen 1 picture of David, and honestly, he's a hottie.

Find you a good girl, David. One of these days, I'll be motivated to lose weight and find a good guy. I get tired of being alone as well. It's been too long.

I'm not posting my current weight, because I look nowhere near what I weigh, and if I posted my height and weight, you all would think I'm Jabba the Hut.

Maria, thank you so much.
Maria, I had my heart broken, yeaaarrs ago. And completely just gave up. Well, I was on vacation in August, and I just woke up one morning, and all of the sudden, I KNEW, that minute, that I was wasting my life, and that it was time to move on. The decision was that quick, like a light bulb being turned on!
I hope that you find that light bulb, as soon as you're ready!
You know....not that someone wouldn't/shouldn't/couldn't love you, just the way you are. For me, this weight loss has nothing to do with "them". F*** them! (I'm kidding). But it IS about me. Only me. Feeling better about myself.

Dude, all I can say is, I was not getting laid by 21 and 22yo's, before. I now have no problem. I'm rollin' on about 3-4 hours of sleep today!
Let me improve your quote, "Nothing tastes as good as a 21yo pie*e of ***!"

AND, btw, let me add, my doctor has been threatening me with cholesterol meds, for the past year. Went two weeks ago.....guess what? I don't NEED EM! Cholesterol has dropped 41 points, through weight loss only. Doctor said, "whatever you're doing, keep it up!"

So, you're a nurse, is there actually something wrong, with getting too thin?

Hmm, I've never tried weights, but that's not a bad idea. You were right to guess that I usually just do cardio, and the pounds fly off when I do. It's not about the number, though, I'd really just like to be toned.

Paula, am I right to remember that you made a big effort to get in shape a few years ago and really kicked ass doing it? I haven't read this whole thread, so maybe you've even already talked about it here, but I'm sure people would be helped by your story if you wouldn't mind sharing it.

Or I've made all of that ^ up and you can ignore me

I really shouldn't have been so negative in my response to your post. Better to be on the lighter end of normal weight than overweight, that's for sure. And my husband isn't skeleton skinny or anything, he's just not beefy. Course, I like tall thin men who look like they're 17, so it's all good with me.

And too thin? I would only worry if you started obsessively watching every single thing you ate & freaked out if you gained 5 pounds. The fact that you kind of forgot about it & lost the rest of the weight is probably a good thing. Sounds like you simply changed the way you live/eat & this is now your normal. Good for you. The lower cholesterol is awesome. As long as you're eating a pretty balanced diet, I personally don't see an issue.

The girls... well, both of them took after my husband. When he was a kid, he was BIG!!! He started slimming down when he was about 16/17. Samantha is 17, and she's starting to slim down. She was what she called "the fat kid" in elementary and junior high, but I think she looks great now. Sara is just like the both of them. She's a big girl for 11. I just measured her, and she's 5'1", and last dr. visit she weighed around 130. So, she's a big girl as well. But I know she'll grow into that, and be thin in a few years. What kills me is that I don't feed them junk, cook with grease and butter, or buy cookies and candy.

(I couldn't believe I just measured her at 5'1"!!! 2 more inches and she'll be as tall as me!)
Your girls looked normal size to me when I saw them. sara has a bit of "baby fat" but I hate that it's even called that. Kids hear that & get obsessed over weight.

The Core Secrets workout did wonders to tone my body. I suppose any similar routine would do the same thing. You really only need 20-30 min 2 or 3 days a week in my experience.

No, you recall correctly. I was between 10-20 pounds overweight pretty much since high school. I'd lose a few, gain it back eventually. Never was obsessed with my body or depressed about it or anything, but about 3 years ago I realized I just didn't feel good. Felt out of shape & weak. Didn't want to follow my parents down the road to obesity, high blood pressure & diabetes.

I started doing Weight Watchers - didn't join, just figured out the points system (well, copied it from a few friends that had joined) & followed it. Started doing 30-45 min of cardio 4-5 days a week, and weight/resistance exercises 2-3 times a week. Do most of my workouts in front of the TV, watching shows on the DVR.

I wanted to lose 15 pounds initially & ended up losing about 23. Reached an ideal weight for my height, and my cholesterol levels dropped too. I got so toned, I saw muscles I had never seen on my body in my life (literally!) After about 6 months it wasn't a weight loss program anymore, it became my normal life. Still is. Kept the weight off for over 2 years.

Now I'm back at it to lose the baby weight. Doing well so far - slow & steady wins the race. I'd like to get back into all the clothes I bought over those 2 years. Not too concerned with an exact number on the scale, but I figure about 10 more pounds should do it. If I drop it by my birthday in April, I'll be quite happy. it's been a lot easier than I thought it would be. WW really did make me change my lifestyle - it's NOT a diet anymore. Hasn't been for a long long time. This is just the way I eat now.

Marissa.... stop bitching. Of all people on this earth, you are the one who is not allowed to complain.

As for me, I'm 5'10" and I honestly have absolutely no idea how much I weigh because I stay as far away from a scale as humanly possible. Seriously, I run from them.

Same here. Scales are not allowed in my house, and I truly have no clue as to what I weigh (I know I weigh less than the last time I was at the Dr... but other than that! ). It's just a number... one that shouldn't have any impact on my happiness and self worth!
