1) MTV One Night Stand
"I'm staring off into nowhere like a loon" -- the first two minutes of this little video are typical Stevie. Haha I love it! 2) "How Still My Love" Well I really love the US Festival version, but you can't freaking hear Stevie's vocals for most of it! Ugh. It's still great though. The arm waving at 1:31, "Hold still, baby, hold still" 4:46-5:00, her saying at the end "...that's my favorite song to do on stage. So of course I do it!" hahaha oh dear.

So, just so you know...this is impossible!!! These are just two of my favorite Stevie moments:
1. Stevie's appearance in Tom Petty's Runnin' Down a Dream concert (especially Stop Draggin' My Heart Around and I Need To Know and Stevie going crazy with her tambourine) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUIVJ6eb8tk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpQd6Sjaizc 2. Beauty and the Beast (in general, but especially 1983 Wild Heart concert, Red Rocks, the one done with the symphony in Australia, and one from Vegas thats on youtube). I'm sorry, I can't choose between them...I tried...couldn't do it. Last edited by GypsyBlueEyes; 11-04-2009 at 06:05 PM.. |

2 more 'Perfect Stevie' performances:
1. The way she holds the prolonged 'know' note at the end of 'Edge of 17' with such authority on her Soundstage dvd, it gives 'Edge' even more edge. I wish it had been on the cd. Other than the final 'snow' in Landslide, it's been a long time since she holds a note this long, and her voice is so raggedly gorgeous when she does it on a rock song, I hope she does it again. 2. Also perfect is the 1980 Fleetwood Mac live lp version of 'Sara', the way she ends the song, with the final word she sings being the title of the song, 'Sara', bending the 'uhhh' note and elevating it into the stratosphere. (or even if it was feedback or reverb that gives the effect, which as it plays now I don't think it was, it's still beautifully sung). |

My two perfect Stevie moments:
1. 'Go Your Own Way', Rosebud, '76. I always loved the way she sang this one, especially her 'Only Another' line at the end of the song. 2. Rhiannon, Toyko, '77. 'Golden, Emerald, Satin!' Always, always, always loved her voice during this performance. It sounds kind of subdued, but still has that intensity that she still had in the '70's. I just loved the way she kind of screams those three words. |

Her vocal on "Whenever I Call You Friend" with Kenny Loggins has always been, in my opinion, one of her best vocals of her entire career. Also, her background vocals on Tom Snow's "Hurry Boy", and background on Walter Egan's "Magnet and Steel"

I've got another...
The 1983 performance of Stand Back when she pulled that little girl, Elaine, out of the audience and brought her on stage. That was one of the coolest, sweetest things ever!! |

Can I just take a moment to express my love and adoration to the song 'How still my love?'
I f-ing love it. It is perfection in my mind. I'm not going to try and find a good video to post, but seriously. love. it. and #2..... This isn't a Stevie song....but I can't get over the expression on her face at the end. It is an imperfect perfection. |

I love the HSML link to EO17. Not only the words, how still, but when she says "sometimes in the middle of the night, I still think about you," that reminds me of the How Still My Love lyrics as well, when she's singing that it's her that's talking to him in the still of the night.
I don't have a particular favorite live version of EO17, but I love the part where she says, "I know what it sounds like. I know what it sounds like." Then, I always anticipate the reprise after the Edge walk. When she returns to the mic and again: "I know what it sounds like!" Michele |
