[QUOTE=chiliD;848839]TISL. By a RCH over Bella Donna. The solo career "bookends"...IF she never records another solo album, that is.[QUOTE]

Couldn't agree more.

That's quite a compliment to the recent live renditions. I know Stevie has marvelled that no one has been able to recreate what Prince did off-the-cuff, but in the end, maybe that's a good thing. Maybe that dates the song, in retrospect.

I do think Stand Back sounds better this tour than it did for the SYW tour.

It seems that I hear the studio version so much less than I hear Stevie's other songs. Edge, Rhiannon, Dreams . . . you can catch them on the public airwaves every week. Stand Back doesn't get the airplay that the others do today. So, whenever I do hear it, it's when I put on the album. That happens rarely, so I always greet it like an old, missed friend.

I was going to pick Street Angel on the basis of Destiny, but I decided that Destiny Rules is an even better song, so I cast my vote for Say You Will.

I think THAT is Stevie's "little masterpiece."
Tim, curiosity compels me to ask: What makes it "little"?

Bella Donna, easily.

The Wild Heart has really grown on me, I must say; I didn't like it much at all for a long time. I've always loved RAL - it's still probably my second fave. TOSOTM is so bland and cheesy it's unreal. Rooms on Fire & Ooh My Love are the only two songs on there I really like. Street Angel is awful - the only songs on there that are any good are the ones on Enchanted, and I prefer those versions anyway. TISL is very good, if only we could toss out That Made Me Stronger and Too Far from Texas.

Rumours and Tusk have her best FM songs, IMO. I dunno, it's hard for me to compare her solo and FM stuff, tho.

You cast your vote for Street Angel. Either way, I'm glad. Street Angel's first two tracks are da bomb! And Unconditional Love!

Does anyone know where she got the title of the album/song? I always like to think it's from the film by Frank Borzage (one of my very favorite filmmakers).

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

She got it from the scene in "Across the Pacific" when Mary Astor distracts the ship's officer so that Bogie can get into the radio room & read the government message. Astor says to the officer: Street angels aren't like anyone you know."

Since my mother kind of enabled my indulgence in record collecting, she dropped me off at the Kemp Mill Records near the place where I took guitar lessons. After weeks and weeks of playing my "Stand Back b/w Garbo" 45 single to death, I finally saw the LP in the store display and I think I actually squealed when I saw it and ran to it. I'm not sure how many 13-year-old boys the employees ever saw squealing over a new Stevie Nicks album. I think the other album I bought that day was The Police Synchronicity, but I think I may have played that once or twice. The Wild Heart was my one true love that entire summer. To this day I can still sing every single line of every song perfectly in the original key. Granted, it's not quite as effortless as it used to be.
That's a great story! Yes, record stores certaintly were a magical place when I was a kid. The Wild Heart is a moment in time...I never get tired of listening to it but I have to be in the "wild heart" frame of mind to play it. It's a journey of passion, heartbreak, loss, love and rock and roll. There's a mood on that record that starts with the very first notes and continues until the very end. And when I'm in the darkest places of my mind, The Wild Heart and only The Wild Heart will do.

I voted for RAL but I wished I voted for Mirage. I never get sick of That's Alright or Straight Back. Gypsy is a great song too but I love the other two more.

Stealing the words out of my mouth. Although I adore both Wild Heart and Trouble in Shangri-La with all of my being, there is something so totally Nicksian about Bella Donna that has been slowly deteriorating ever sense. Just looking at "Kind Of Woman", "Outside the Rain", "How Still My Love", "Bella Donna" and "Edge of Seventeen" alone.... magic .
