Think BIG man. This was a one-nighter for posterity's sake. If they could do it the year before for The Dance, they sure as hell could muster the guns and requisite moxy for HOF. If not the BN outfit are bigger saps than I thought.

Well considering he brushed off Lindsey backstage like he wasn't there, I suspect if anything he didn't approve of the banjo & tambourine dog-n-pony show he witnessed as representative of the band he founded. Now I could be wrong -- but something tells me....

BTW after I first posted, and before I saw your rejoinder, I realized I conveniently overlooked the ace in the whole for Albatross, to cover any deficit that may have stemmed from Peter's possible reluctance to engage - Jeremy! But over and beyond that, creative approaches and thinking should have been the hallmark of the night. I could see mixing and matching ANY of the FM personnel in the performances -- whatever it would take to create truly memorable fireworks.

Noooooo! Don't even go there. A lot of us still have images of banjos playing in our heads from days long passed and thankfully forgotten, ones hopefully not to be revisited any time soon. [For anyone in the dark, fire up The Derelict from Penguin (1973) -- Dave W, forgive me mate, but it just didn't fit]

Peter Green didn't make his decision to perform with Santana instead of Fleetwood Mac because of what he saw of Fleetwood Mac in rehearsal (assuming there was a rehearsal). Green has never exhibited any kinship with or interest in the 1979 incarnation's music (please spare me the anecdote about his guitar work on Brown Eyes), & obviously wasn't going to align himself with it -- however temporarily -- for the HoF induction. I betcha a million & a half that Mick Fleetwood asked Peter to perform with Fleetwood Mac. Peter, whatever his actual reasons, obviously declined. Would he have agreed if Fleetwood Mac had opted to play Before the Beginning or World Keep On Turning? I doubt it. That incarnation and several other incarnations of the band have played several Peter Green songs in concert over the decades -- individual members have even done so in solo concerts -- & Green has never, or almost never, been interested enough to join the fun.

Well, Jeremy posts on the Ledge periodically. Why didn't he join Fleetwood Mac for any music-making that night? He was an inductee & had every right to be there.

The idea of mixing & matching Fleetwood Mac personnel from the enormous span of time is a popular one -- even among the "short-sighted" Rumours lovers. On this forum alone, we've covered it hundreds of times. It never made musical or logistical sense to me, but the spectacle of it would certainly bring a wry smile to my face.

Well, now who's being short-sighted? I happen to love The Derelict. It's one of the best tracks Fleetwood Mac recorded in those days. There is more pertinent truth in one line of The Derelict than in an entire 1989 solo album by a certain female member.

Well, "never" has arrived. After years of demand - and a small nod to fans with the TIME LIFE video collection (released in the 25th year of the hall) A true audio collection is now becoming available! From www.directcurrentmusic.com: "nearly 200 others in a special 10-volume digital-only collection arriving at iTunes on November 15 and a 51-song 3-CD set available November 1. The annual induction ceremonies are known for their legendary jam sessions and these collections capture many of the best."

I can confirm that commercials for the download service are forthcoming - but the announcement of a physical disc set was truly unconfirmed until now.

Disc 3 of the set contains two FM perfromances from the 1998 inductions, including (track 2) "Say You Love Me" (live acoustic, as was done on THE DANCE tour that previoius fall) [would this mark THE last performance of Christine McVie with the band?] and (track 5) "Landslide" (credited to Lindsey & Stevie) also from 1998.

Longtime FM friends Sheryl Crow and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers also make several appearances on the physical set.

This is a HUGE coup for rock fans - hopefully some of the proceeds will go back into the RRHOFM's ongoing education funds (about to do another AMMS event on Aretha Franklin the weeks of 10/31 - 11/5).

Looking back, the ideal (IMO) would have been SYLM (regular version), Dreams, Oh Well (w/Peter), and GYOW.
