Default SN: I Want Reese to Play Me

Herald Sun (Australia)

August 23, 2009: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sto...-27258,00.html

Stevie Nicks is a hard act to follow

SUPERSTAR Stevie Nicks will not allow Lindsay Lohan to play her in a planned Fleetwood Mac biopic.

"Lindsay cannot be me until she gets her life together," Nicks, 61, told the Sunday Herald Sun. "If I were to do a movie, or allow a movie about my life, Lindsay Lohan is not the person I would pick to do it.

"She has got completely off track. She has a bad reputation. She is a party girl.

"I would want somebody who is an excellent actress and dedicated to their craft."

Fleetwood Mac is swamped by movie offers and Nicks has picked the actor to play her.

"I want Reese Witherspoon to play me," Nick said. "Reese knows. She would play Stevie Nicks really well."

Nicks can relate to the traps snaring Hollywood's new brat pack.

She once released a solo album, Trouble In Shangri La, about the perils of celebrity and fame.

"I look at Miley Cyrus and wonder how she can keep it up because she is everything," Nicks said. "She is a singer, an actress, a dancer, a song writer. She is very famous. And she's only 16."

Nicks knows Miley's father, singer-actor Billy Ray Cyrus, keeps his daughter on track.

"He's a good old boy. He's tough as nails underneath that sweet smile," she said.

Nicks said Paris Hilton should not be rated alongside Cyrus, Lohan or Britney Spears.

"Paris is an heiress. She has so much money, she never has to work a day in her life," Nicks said.

"But she has purposely chosen to build an empire. So God bless her."

But Nicks gave her strongest support to Spears.

"I love Britney and I want the best for her," Nicks said. "She has got her life back and she has two boys who need her.

"But Britney has her body back, her beauty back and, hopefully, she will get her power back."

Fleetwood Mac performs at Rod Laver Arena on December 1. Tickets go on sale on September 4.

Reese probably already practiced I Still Miss Someone for the Johnny Cash movie, so she's all set to go as Stevie.

I think Reese would portray Stevie well, I just wish she looked more like Stevie.

(Ok, am I the only one that laughed at this? I found it to be completely hypocritical considering Stevie's party life back in the day). Well, I know where she is coming from though I guess. She wants an actress who is serious about her acting craft and not someone who is not taking her career seriously. I am sure Stevie does not want any bad karma/vibe surrounding the project if it is ever made. She wants an actress who will do well. Interesting though how this topic keeps being brought up in interviews.

Yeah, I was a bit like, 'Oh, and of course you stayed at home baking cakes inbetween 1975 - 1986.' Of course, the project probably would be doomed from the offset if an actress with a bad reputation was linked to it. And I think the reason it's brought up is either a) slight rewording from other interviews or b) they keep asking why she doesn't want Lindsay Lohan to play her. Both are equally annoying.

Hmmm....... interesting. I think it would be really difficult for anyone to play Stevie except for Stevie but at the same time, Reese might do better than anyone else, really.

I'd rather have Stevie write an autobio than see her life depicted on the big screen by other people.

I'm sure it'd be interesting having Reese play her and whatnot, but I don't know... it'd just seem strange.

Even if Stevie was going to help with the movie, I'd rather be able to read about her in her own words.

I'd be pretty pumped if they went through with this, and FMLex I agree with you, but how about both? haha

Reese seems too innocent to me to play Stevie Nicks. The choice does give some interesting insights into Nicksie's self-perception, though.

Ditto. If I didn't hate Lindsey Lohan with every fiber of my being (sober or not), I'd say we should wait 5 years until she finally gets out of rehab for the final time.

We need someone who can play a drugged out demon-fairy. Reese doesn't give that impression

Again, agreed.

When I woke up early Saturday morning, my tv was on with the sound down and Election with Reese and Matthew Broderick was on. It was pretty funny to watch Reese glowering, plotting and using angry, ferocious strength just to press campaign buttons. I think she could handle some of the other strands of Stevie's personality.

I just wonder if Stevie would be uncomfortable having some of the more unflattering times onscreen. Sure she doesn't mind talking about the drug use and I don't think it's the cocaine party times or snorting times that would embarass her. But seeing an actress play out the effect of the Klonopin times might be something she won't want to do. She'll talk about them, but does she want to see them again?

Michele
