what I meant was that the high school kids expect stuff to last, and if it doesn't, then they're devistated about it. A high school relationship gone wrong is nothing to be devistated about- upset is ok, bur not devistated. We all hve plenty of time to meet someone else. It's not that the relationships can't last, it's just that they usually don't.

that's true of any relationship. most relationships don't end in marriage, and even 50% of marriages end in divorce.

so it's common, but can still be devastating at any age. and when you're 17 and stupid, of course it seems like the end of the world.

Why would you say that 17 year old's are stupid? We have a few of them on here and they are not stupid.

Stupid seventeen-year-olds definitely exist (hence my problem with most people my age, respectively) but I agree-- we aren't all inexperienced, naive and manipulative.

Because love is a dangerous and obsolete emotion.

Duh.

Not true. I'd say some are cleverer, at least in terms of making decisions related to life, than adults. Some adults are so naive it's cringe-worthy.

It's early yet.

I could deal with difficult things much better when I was 17 than I do now. I want to go back!
