In what way do you think Christine was a bridge though? Musically or politically? |

Musically, just her presence there didn't facilitate the melding of Stevie and Lindsey's musical sound to me. Christine and Lindsey probably did more for each other's music. Although Lindsey may think otherwise, I don't think Christine changed the sound of Stevie's music much. Lindsey said something like Christine's presence made Stevie's music less aggressive. Yet, Lindsey was running around feminizing everything (Hold Me) more than Christine ever did. However, just having Christine in there too made Fleetwood Mac's overall sound more varied and complex. I think it offered fans more. Michele |

Three's the charm.
It's a very pedestrian statement from her, nothing particularly magical at all, but I remember reading my SYW tour book before the show and when I got to the part where Stevie says they were meant to be three for all of those years, it made me cry. Of course, John then said of Christine, "I thought she got fired," and that quickly laughed the tears away. Michele Last edited by michelej1; 08-16-2009 at 02:42 PM.. |

Although you can fold it out, so that all 4 of them are lying down (and you can fold out Mirage so that you see all 5 of them standing together too), I always thought mostly of Stevie/Lindsey and John/Mick as two separate pairs for the SYW pictures. Anyway, when asked if they are all sleeping together during the SYW tour, only John says "no." He is emphatic about it. The rest of them give teasing answers. I thought it was pretty amusing. Now that I'm looking at the cover, I think its interesting that John and Mick are completely joined by their hands and neither touch Stevie or Lindsey in any way. Then, Stevie and Lindsey's arms are definitely touching but they are not intertwined. The crazy and analytical writer in me apologizes for this random observation... but I just think it kinda demonstrates the two relationships. Mick and John: the most reliable link in the chain. Stevie and Lindsey: always connected in their independent way with just enough room between them for some friction to start. ....I am ridiculous. |

I love his production and I'm tired of all of that angry version Smile At You talk and I do not agree with it, but . . . honestly. If he confronted me with such a comment, I would throw that in his face. Michele |

But, what about Buckingham Nicks? By all practical purposes, the two did collaborate on those songs. Unless you believe that Stevie had no say whatsoever and handed her songs to Lindsey and that was that. Also, I can hear the same sort of quality in Stevie's BN tracks that would later emerge as the new FM sound. In that regard, LB's fingerprints left an indelible mark on her songs that certainly would never be matched by any cohorts to come. Also, I can see your point about Christine, but given LB's history with Stevie (and given Christine's music expertise), one could argue Stevie pulled more rank with Lindsey prior to their joining FM. Then, Christine's pedigree threw Stevie's personal credibility out the window. (No wonder Nicks was peeved at World Turning, her world had indeed turned.) |

Wow.a new cd,I remember from some of Stevie's interviews earlier this year say she wants to slow down for awhile ,backoff on touring any other things after this tour was over which i thought this tour was going to end after the first leg.personally I guess things change,I have no idea what she and FM are doing now ,but I hope they are taking a break to get some R&R. before going to europe in october.Yes If Christine records on the new cd, that will be awesome, I just want to hear her voice again with FM again.

I don't see a new Fleetwood Mac album happening unless, sadly, Buckingham wants to do another one.

And Stevie said that sometimes she would be in the sound studio and they would start working on a musical part together and forget about her for hours. I always loved Stevie's joke about Lindsey working on Tusk by himself at home, because he probably didn't want to look through the glass and get distracted by her making signs and cheerleading in the background. This has nothing to do with music, but I always thought it a representative moment when they are all in the bleachers for the Tusk video and Stevie is standing up waving and shouting and Lindsey tugs on her dress and tells her to sit down. Christine thought that was pretty funny. Michele |
