"The Great, Great Love of my life for about two years was joe walsh". "There was nothing more important than Joe Walsh, Not my music, not my songs, not anything".Stevie says. But cocaine ruined the romance."We had to break up or we though we'd die. It took me years to get over it. It's very sad, but at least we survived."
My point being that Stevie thinks everyone is her greatest love. She's either an incurable romantic or delusional.

Knowing La Nicks, I'm voting a bit of both

Infinite amount of kudos to them for that. Times infinity.
Totally off subject, but I love the Kirk avatar! I always argue with my brothers who the REAL Captain of the Enterprise is (they say Picard). Capt. Kirk's a Pimp!!

There is only ONE captain of the Enterprise and he goes for a tall green skinned woman in a black dress and his name is Kirk.....James T. Kirk.

I'm confused. How has a conversation about a musical crush turned into one about Stevie's great loves?

Back to the topic, Stevie was talking about Buffalo Springfield's song Rock And Roll Woman in the Logo Online interviews and how it inspired her in the early days. And, of course, that's a Stephen Stills song.

It's interesting. Before this year Stevie has never talked much about her influences, bar Janis, but in recent months we've seen quotes about Janis, Joni and Crosby, Stills And Nash. I can hear all of those in her early work. Maybe she's getting nostalgic in her old age.

Stevie Nicks right next to Mick Jagger.

Yes THIS sounds like a good idea!

Kirk does own, will have owned, and in fact always has owned, that chair on the bridge and been Captain of the Enterprise.
He'll NEVER give her up!!!

Tectonic thread drift.

She talked about Joni & "Ladies of the Canyon" & "Court & Spark" many, many years ago. And there are those photos she took in the late 1970s that perfectly reproduce Joni's poses on "Don Juan's Reckless Daughter" (wearing the black chiffon & top hat).

And then there is the admiration for Hendrix's "Little Wing" she expressed in 1990 in Japan, as well as the '60s vocal groups like the Ronettes & the Supremes, which is probably how she decided she wanted to front her solo stage with dancing backup vocalists, all singing planned harmony arrangements.

..I agree about the drama...I also think Stevie loves very hard, with her heart on her sleeve, and when she gets hurt..it's VERY deep..I can SO relate!

To be fair to Stevie, Don Juan's Reckless Daughter came out in late 77 and I believe Stevie had already started wearing the top hats and black chiffon by that point, but I may be wrong. I always thought Joni's look on the cover of Hejira was very Stevie-esque, with the black outfit and the big beret. I agree the backing vocalists idea is definitely inspired by the female vocal groups of the 60s, but there's a lot of Crosby, Stills & Nash in that too I think. It's funny, along with Vivfox's Oscar Wilde thread, I don't think I ever realised how much of Stevie's act was "inspired" by other artists, writers and stars. I guess the mish-mash of influences is unique, but there's hardly any original elements in there.
