Also, I don't like the way you talk to people. I know thats probably not my place to say, but nobody has said anything yet. You can express your opinion with having such an arrogant/contemptuous tone..

Lady GaGa - The Fame Britney Spears - Circus Evanescence - Fallen John Mayer - Continuum And yes, I would have to say that Say You Will would probably make it on my list for not the best but one of the best albums of the decade. I would also have to add Trouble in Shangri-La because that album is, what I believe, to be Stevie's biggest success. It proved, at the time, that she was still contemporary and still revelvant...I only wish she would have held on to that. However, I am glad that she's not making any more studio albums because Trouble in Shangri-La was such a big success. I feel that Trouble in Shangri-La was a great way to go out. As I feel Say You Will is probably a good way to go out for Fleetwood Mac and Gift of Screws is a good way for Lindsey to go out. Although I don't think Lindsey will let his candle burn out. No, you have a right to say whatever you feel as do I which is why I do. Yes, I can be arrogant and I can be very condescending but that's okay because that's my perogative as it is yours not to like me. I express my opinions in the way that I do because that's how I do it. I'm happy with the way that I talk. I'm happy with being an obnoxious, loud and contemptuous person from New Yawk.

Why the heck would you (the listener) care if a band is relevent or not? You either like the sound or you don't.
If you only like "relevent" bands then you only are jumping on the bandwagon - to be hip - nothing else. The phase will come and go. Why the heck should I care if Fleetwood Mac is relevent or not? Whatever they are, I like their music anyway. The case that they are irrelevent means nothing to me. And that's all that counts - the personal connection between artist and listener. I like "Pokerface" but can't say I feel much of a connection with GaGa and her bluffin' muffin' And I'm 17 by the way. |

newyawka- Are you basically saying you want FM to sell out, to change the way they do things, to stop doing what they love doing (we all know Lindsey absolutely loves going solo for a few years at a time) and to basically try and be something they're not just so people like you can consider them relevant again in today's absolute shambles of a music industry??
Ok, we can all agree that Unleashed is nothing but a money making tour. But they're still enjoying it. And we the fans are enjoying it. Does that not make them relevant?? I'm actually quite confused now.

Well, I'd need to think harder to give a real answer but those are two great albums.I hope he doesn't! I want as many albums from his as possible. His last two albums have been great so there's not reason that he should stop now. Quote:
As for Lady Gaga's relevancy... I'm a student. I go to places they play music for students and a lot of it is what's in the charts at the minute. I have never heard a Lady Gaga song while I've been out, even at places where they play more dance music. I know that she's very popular at the minute but apparently she's not appealing to a large demographic of 18+ year olds over here. She's only "relevant" to certain groups, if relevancy equates to popularity. We're still waiting on a real definition. |

newyawka: you can't be serious about those albums being the best of the past decade...surely you can't. Those albums are all fairly new and appear to be quite Top 40 radio-play. Is your opinion of relevancy based on what's popular on the radio or the Music Now albums only? I'm certainly not insinuating that any of those artists aren't relevant, but they're also the typical stuff that most of my younger cousins listen to because it's what's hyped at the moment...I mean, if this is what you want FM to aspire to rank amongst I'm afraid it isn't going to happen.
Their music is sublime and beautiful because it has a sound that is very much their own sound. I don't think I could ever imagine Lindsey or Stevie trying to make records like Britney Spears or Kanye West (gawd I hate him). But, really, what do you identify relevancy with? I'm just wondering... Also: I really like John Mayer. His celebrity and persona I can do without, but his music is really quite beautiful and he has a lot of talent. However, I still don't understand how he's relevant...based on what? Because you like him? If a song is great, then that's all that matters to me. Never in my life have I put thought into what artists are relevant or not...unless we're talking about lyrics I'm just dumbfounded.

Luka A.,
Not swing. It was best described as high energy dance music. Very 80's new wave with guitars. Grunge was HUGE at the time we started. We called our style of music NEW new wave. It was great. Then No Doubt broke big and suddenly everyone was playing dance/rock. But the difference with Fleetwood Mac and all these other groups name like Lady Gaga and Kanye West is that the Mac is timeless. There music is classic and always will be. 50 yrs from now nobody will know who Lady Gaga is. |

One more thing, there's a difference between relevant and trendy. Let's not get the 2 confused. Gaga is a trend and a gimmick. Nothing more.

Did I just hear a record skip, or was that the sound of this thread's irrelevant relevancy flying out the window?

They also need to stick together and just be Fleetwood Mac, none of this solo tour sh*t anymore. They need to make studio albums with less that five to six years apart from each other because they'll stay in people's minds better that way. Also, Lindsey and Stevie need to quit with the childish arguments. Lindsey needs to step back from his whole experimental thing and create more commercial songs for Fleetwood Mac. If you ask me a lot of songs on Gift of Screws should have been Fleetwood Mac songs. "Did You Miss Me" should have been a Fleetwood Mac single, not a solo single. They need to take whatever deals they can get, whether that be through Wal-Mart or Starbucks or whatever. And they need more fan-to-band interaction. Quote:

I listed Circus because it demonstrates Britney Spears’ fantastic return to the music industry. It marked the fact that she’s still relevant because for a while there it was becoming debatable.

I asked my 2 year old, who knows all the words to Stand Back, and she says they are relevant. So there you have it.

Even so John Mayer relevant? You know his music is pretty much unknown outside of the States. I couldn't name one of his songs if you tied me up and tortured me for a song title. Quote:
Well, you're for everything I'm against in music. If Fleetwood Mac started trying to appeal to "the youth" at the expense of their art, I'd be the first to stop listening and I'm pretty certain I'm not the only one.
