The Lost 45's with Barry Scott
This Sunday, 4/12, from 7 to Midnight Eastern, "Amazing April" continues, featuring a brand new interview with Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac! (preview!) In this rare interview from a very private, quiet man; find out details about Fleetwood Mac hits and his solo singles! We'll chat about the turbulent recording of the "Rumours" LP and his relationship with Stevie Nicks...including when he first met her in High School! Plus, find out the true meaning of "Tusk" and which guitar Lindsey surprisingly first learned to play! You'll hear a bunch of demo versions of Fleetwood Mac tunes! We'll have a 1977 Yearbook and a box set of 'can' songs! Listen Live at 103.3fm Boston on Sunday between 7-12pm eastern |

Yeah, it sounds like a "rare" interview all right, since all of those topics are only ones we've heard him discuss 400 times before.

So I'll just wait for the recap, or maybe if someone is kind enough to post it I'll listen. I mean, I may not care for how he says stuff but I'm gonna support him and listen to the content at some point. ![]()

Well, I do want to hear the interview. With my post, I was rolling my eyes more at the way the the writer made it sound like they were getting some exclusive information from some hermit who talks less than Howard Hughes. Lindsey can talk your head off if he wants to and he's talked about all of that stuff thousands of times. I was frustrated with the puffery, not with the Linds man.
I know the media isn't for focused fans. It's geared towards casual fans who don't even know who Lindsey is. So, it will be new for them. I just don't like what I perceive as the dishonesty of the promotion, especially fresh from that Kim Stolz pretending that she got some never-before-discussed scoop from Stevie. These people are just getting on my nerves. I guess with Lindsey repeating himself, there's always a new nugget or a new slant on an old nugget that I can sink my teeth into. So, I don't mind him. Ok i'll get this over with for you guys... here's how I hear it in my head sometimes....
jbrownsjr: What was it really like? You and Stevie breaking up from an almost marriage, Christine and John getting a divorce, and Mick and his wife having problems. LB: Well it was a whole process of resolving our differences through the music. We were all shrouded in our small studio. We all had to be in the same room at times, and I also felt trapped traveling the world and playing kick ass version of songs that the fans would later hate and yet we still keep doing them for the next 40 years with the same woman I damn near strangled in Christine's driveway. jbrownsjr: Do you look back at Tusk as necessary? LB: I was really feeling anxious creatively and wanted to sound like the Beach Boys were doing Clash tunes on a bathroom floor. So I got this idea to sing next to the toilet to make some really nice echos and get the right amount of reverb. The band was really upset, I remember specifically John getting pissed about having to record in a lavatory. (smirks) But looking back I realize that singing That's All For Everyone on a bare tile floor was pure genius. jbrownsjr: What brought you guys back together to do this tour again? LB: Well this was an organic process of 4 individuals coming together and reconvening that have this deep need to be together and unleash these songs once again without the pressure of having to do new material. We know that the people we market too are the ones paying the bills; therefore, we will play the songs they want. Now that I have spent some time making solo records and arranging Big Love 12 more times with a different title, I feel I can enjoy coming back to Fleetwood Mac and make a lot of money for my next project. jbrownsjr: How is your relationship with Stevie Nicks? LB: Stevie and I are good now. And Even know I say Stevie and I are good everytime you ask me that Brown, we really had a lot to work out from the SYW tour. I got tired of hearing her say stuff like, Christine would never let you get away with this crap Lindsey! Or Wait til my manager hears about this!! And finally, Lindsey Dreams was at least positive and Go Your Own Way was down right nasty! jbrownsjr: Why did you guys really tour without making a new record? LB: Money, and nobody would put up capital for another FM record, so this tour will help that situation if we decide to even do another one. We have to see how much we hate each other in the end..It's just what we do.. jbrownsjr: What did you think about Sheryl Crow coming to join Fleetwood Mac. LB: It was scary there for a while because Stevie really did miss Christine's presence in dealing with my personality in the studio. So she thought the Sheryl would replace that feeling of vulnerability Stevie has when we go at it for hours on end. And Mick and John and I really thought that we were going to have to give in to Stevie, but when we told her how much she would forgo in money w/ Sheryl, she dropped and I was relieved because I want to be masculine up there. No more eyeliner for me baby! jbrownsjr: well that's all the bull**** we have for today... thanks!

i listen/read lindsey interviews with the hope that one sentence is something fresh and new. the stock answers are so commonplace, i know them by heart. but every once in a while he says something off the wall. i like the '81 interview of his on the Merv Show thats up on youtube. very few stock answers. hope i can hear this one!
