ha ha me too. I dont have anything to do for a bit so that would work out great! First thing I would do would be to introduce her to the internet and then buy her a cell phone and make her learn how to use it. That is my biggest pet peeve is when people get older and they dont want to learn anything new.

It's OK, she has a friend with a cell and the internet who does everything that needs to get done. That cracked me up on The Chris Isaak Show. Isn't that using technology by proxy?

Yeah that is true. I was laughing when she said about using her typewriter. Oh my! I hated those things. I remember learning typing in 9th grade and we had to learn on a typewriter. It was such a pain in the a**. Computers are so much easier to use.
You have to wonder what type of phone she has at home and if she has call waiting or caller id!

Yeah, does she even have an electric typewriter? Or is it one of those key-punchers that are SO HARD to use?

ha ha yeah you do have to wonder. its strange though that she doesnt use computers. they have been around for a while now so you think at some point she would wanna try one out or something.

But Stevie has said she doesn't have a cell phone because she just doesn't want to be that accessible and I agree with that part of it. I don't mind my family being able to get me all the time, but I hate getting business calls on my cell. I give the number out sparingly, in fact I even tried using a second cell for non-family calls, but I still get bothered a lot more than I like. I don't have a blackberry and I don't push the emails to my iphone. I will do business beyond the traditional hours, but I'd like to do it when it's convenient to me. I'll check the email once an hour and get back to people on my own schedule. I don't like constantly being "on call." And when Stevie gave that as her rationale, I understood.

I don't know, not carrying it yourself but having your assistant five feet away carrying it seems like you are that accessible after all.

The irony of all this is, that Karen has all the above "forbidden" technologies to keep Stevie going

. It's just like when Stevie said she went out and bought and loaded all those ipods for the soldiers... we all knew all along she wouldn't have had a clue how to do all that, and she had Karen (and probably others) do it all for her. I can guarantee you Stevie has a computer, blackberry, and other such things in her home for Karen's use. Speaking of, I wonder if Karen lives with her, like some of her past assistants have?
