I agree. And what he did to them is not ever to compare with how he approached Johnny Cash. Even the Neil Diamond-thing, that indeed has a lot in common - soundwise - with Johnny Cash's comeback, was way different too. He simply said to Neil: this song has potential and this one stinks: go back and write better stuff, this isn't good enough. I go and record with you if you got better material. That was his main role in addition of building the sound.

Now THAT is a nice point of view. Can you see that happening with Buckingham and Nicks?

Exactly. Much as I would love to see them collaborate...

No but I'm sure that Rubin adds to them what they need: not the same approach as towards the Chicks, Cash or Diamond (what a nice sentence huh?) For Instance: Stop disagreeing and start listening to eachother: "Listen what she adds to your voice here", or "Isn't that guitarline perfect for you to sing Stevie?" In stead of "I want somebody else to mix this I don't like the overall feel".

Or something like that.

I hear ya Gerald.. Kind of a moderator but also someone that helps them work for the common goal instead of their own self interests. I suppose like a Director would.
