My parents are no longer the dynamos they were just ten years ago. Does this mean I should just give up on them and put them out to pasture. My dog is 11 years old and I remember the days of her running around the park like a raging lunatic. Today she can barely make it up the stairs. Should I have her euthanized? And believe me I have been shelling out money on family members, friends and pets for years and all of them have changed in some way. Does this mean that I give up? They are still the same beings just different! Sorry that Stevie dissapoints you and others, but I hardly think it is time for her to put away the shawls.

you are not the first person to draw a parallel between the relationship he has with stevie and the relationships he has with people who are closer to him. this is interesting to me because no matter how great a connection anyone feels with her music, no one here is a close friend of stevie's. no one here is her family. the reality is that the relationship you have with stevie is not analogous to the relationship you have with your friends and family.

all that aside, i don't think anyone is taking issue with change. change is not inherently bad. it's an inevitability. experience, circumstance, and our own temperaments conspire to shape us through the years. the changes many of us see in stevie reveal her to be disengaged, inert, and contemptuous towards music consumers, and those are the qualities that leave a bitter taste in our mouths.

and, ironically, in many ways it is her inflexibility that rankles. she isn't making new music. she isn't offering new perspectives on the old stuff. she isn't collaborating with interesting people, branching out into other forms of art and media, or connecting with her fans in innovative ways. i mean she abandoned the nicks fix for a gazillion years and then the best we got was "the kennedy's" (sic)?

despite her convincing arguments on the destiny rules doc against the double album concept, she does not understand this brave new music world. while other older artists, like annie lennox, are embracing the (not so) new technology of itunes and youtube, stevie has deemed computers evil and has said that making a new album isn't worth it because people will just steal the music anyway.

lindsey is arguably the most shameless member of the band when it comes to admitting that the "unleashed" tour is nothing but a cash grab, but even he has released 2 albums in the last 2-3 years, well aware that he could never dream of approaching rumours-era sales. this leads me to believe that latter-day stevie is little more than a mercenary whose muse dried up decades ago.

and re: giving up on the people in your life who have changed:

that depends heavily on the circumstances. but i have cut people out of my life who turned into utterly unrecognizable incarnations of themselves. i don't see anything wrong with limiting or eliminating your exposure to someone whose presence in your life results in a net loss. i think that's what many of us have experienced with stevie.

Yes it is not a personal relationship but it is a relationship just the same. One that has gone on for many many years. I was not comparing my relationship with family, friends etc to the more superficial one with a celebrity. I was acknowledging the fact that just because someone changes, they are still the same person.

I have left people in the dust in my life who were inherently detrimental to either the relationship or my mental state. Stevie seeming bored at a concert or not releasing new music is not detrimental and is not making me lose any sleep.

I wouldn't even bother with her, she like to troll this forum. I need to figure out how to hide certain handles cause she will be on teh top of my list. And that huge pic she has of that obscure singer who no one listens to needs to go.

Seriously why would someone come into a FM/SN forum and put a big picture on their signature unless they are trying to troll the forum? It is beyond annoying.

Uh, maybe because she likes other artists and she wants to put their picture in her sig? You're making it sound like she has goaste in her sig.

So I am watching Palladia right now and they are showing the FM concert from 2004 and the amount of energy Stevie has here is crazy. I havent seen this in a while and she seems to be on fire compared to when I saw her on Sunday. I thought she was really good at the show but I guess I just kinda missed her moving around more and her interaction with Lindsey.
If I didnt know better I would have thought they werent getting along. Of course she said they werent getting along on SYW tour if I am correct but yet they seem to be having a blast. Strange!

I am interested to hear what happens at tonight's show.

I understand what you are saying, but come on now. Lindsay is still
preforming I'm so afraid how many times now. And big love is boring now.
I saw him solo two years ago, I liked him but he is still doing the samething.
I think if it wasn't for his children, he would still be in the studio forever making that solo album. Sorry Stevie is FM....Yes if she wanted to, she
would still out sell Lindsay, he didn't sell that many cd's...Was he nominated
for a grammy with his two solo cd's no....He's no better. I think he is
showing off, because not a lot of people showed at his concerts. When I
went the hall held 3,000 seats, only 800 maybe were there....
Sorry that's my opinion....

Lindsey - spelled just like that.. was the person who crafted all the songs by Stevie you adore. He is a musical genius. The fact that he is still making solo records proves that he does this for the MUSIC, while Stevie tours every summer with ticket prices over $100 with the SAME exact set list.

Stevie sells out her venues because she has become an OLDIES act. Her fans know she is gunna play the same crap every time and charge ridiculous prices for tickets. Are you totally fine with paying hundreds of dollars to see her play the same set year after year? I got fed up with it. Team Buckingham. Two incredible solo albums in two years. Ill take that.

ROTFL.. You're asking "ME" if I'm fine with paying hundreds of dollars to see her play the same setlist??? Do you know "WHO" your asking here ?? ROTFLMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... Do you know, that I've been a devoted fan of her's since I heard her back in 1976 when I was in high school, and darlin' I would pay to see her hop on stage and sing the phone book- wearing nothing more than a burlap bag and house shoes- AND, I'd pay thousands even to go see her in a retirement home doing the same!!! LMAO.. You don't know what you let yourself in for here.. LOLOLOL.. I'm gonna go light on you... and say- because of my love and adoration for Stevie Nicks, yes! I've paid thousands of dollars for a LOT of her stuff, along with seeing her perform for many, many years.... as I've been on this earth for 51 wonderful, happy years now.. I'm not in my 20's nor am I a "newbie" to Stevie, the boards, the net or anything else... Matter of fact, I've been on other boards with YOU!! LOL- I'm in no way cutting anyone down for feeling otherwise, as I've stated before... as everyone is entitled to their own feelings and opinions.. and honey.. everyone is letting them out! Im great with that! Do any of us have to agree on everything?? NO! Matter of fact, I enjoy reading everyone's thoughts and feelings! Makes it interesting for all of us! I'm not a Linds fan.. Never have been, and never will be! My boyfriend adores him! As I said.. to each his own! I adore FM, as a whole, and I appreciate the old FM as well.. Peter Green, Bob Welch, Mick, John and all of them! In fact, it's the adoration of the "entire band" as a whole- along with Stevie- that got me involved in the Fm/ Stevie community! And I can't be happier! I have to say also, that because of that, it's brought me a LOT of wonderful people in to my life, as well as music!! So, the answer to your question buddy- is absolutey- Yes, without a doubt! I understand where you are coming from, and can empathize with those of you that feel that way! On that, I see where our feelings differ.. and you know what? There's not a thing wrong with that!

Hugs,

Arlene
