In fact the Two Voice Tour had some of Stevie's finest moments since I started seeing her live in '98. She just seemed to be having the time of her life up there with Don Henley which made for an excellent show for us.

BTW Paula, I think my friend Kim and I were sitting next to you and your friend at that first Caesar's show and we spoke briefly. Did you make it up for the walk that night? I'm pretty sure your friend made it up there, but we were too far.

Tim
We were way over to the right & couldn't get up front the first night, so I'm not sure that was me you're thinking of.

BTW - I really enjoyed the 2V show I saw w/ Henley. I thought she was very good that tour.

She knows how to work a crowd's response with more seductive twirls with her shawl to get a crowd in a frenzy.

If she doesn't twirl for Stand Back... be honest, how many fans or just general fans would be sort of disappointed as it kind of is her trademark move for that song.
See, really I don't think people expect it, at least not general fans. I think when she DOES twirl & does it smoothly & quickly, people are pleasantly surprised like "whoa, look at her go, how old is she?" I think when she clumsily turns around a couple times, they're saying "Jesus, lady, you're too old for that sh*t."

Who got their hopes up? I don't recall anyone taking his/her word as fact.

They neither sing or are a girl.

All this over-expectation heaped on Stevie Nicks is ridiculous,

just thought i'd add that.
Nothing to do with her being a girl. Everything to do with her being "the star."

However, I can stop reading certain others' posts....so that is what I will do instead. I still believe that you draw more flies with sugar than with vinegar so I will just ignore all the vinegar here.

Yeha, let's censor everyone because they're not blindly in love with the band anymore. Come on, dude. ONE person said it's time for her to retire, and I only recall a couple more agreeing. There are plenty of us here who are a bit disappointed in what we've seen so far, but we're not demanding that she give it up for good.

I don't know, but something that's too good to be true creates excitement that turns into disappointment; i've seen it happen on here too many times before, and i thought the posted setlist would create yet another disappointment for those who like to get their hopes up.

What a disappointment. As someone that I bumped into at my hotel mentioned about it, she simply has no more energy or enthusiasm left for this. She really should stop performing after this tour.
And your reason for being on this board is what??? Please remind me, as I have always thought that members here were fans...

Yes, we were all the way to the right as well. Your friend had curly blonde hair and glasses, right? For some reason I thought she had made it up to the stage. That was the most bogus walk ever! There was just a small section at the center of the stage that she made it across so barely anyone up front got to shake her hand.

I totally agree with this statement and I think her boots play a big part in this. I think homegirl has still got the mad speed twirls in her, but we'll probably only see it again if she switches back to the boks. When I saw FM in Irvine in 2004, Stevie was spinning so fast during Stand Back I swear I could feel the breeze from her shawl in the 24th row. If you check out my Stand Back clip from Chicago last year on Youtube her twirls had really slowed down after the boots came back. My friend was a little sad that Stevie was looking older and slowing down, but I thought her performance was very good regardless of the speed of her twirls.

Maybe Stevie is just pacing herself. After all they are touring nearly non stop for 2 months. That's tough for a 40 yr old never mind 60! I am hoping she'll perk up and be the vibrant Stevie we are all used too!

Personally...
I'm not 'buying' the bullchit opinion...not even a consideration.
I'm thinking Stevie would need to whomp-a-lap with her boots on for some to be satisfied...tsktsk.

That's all it looks like to me. Her stage show hasn't looked like her 1980's shows since the 1980's!! All I can say is if you're going expecting to see the Stevie from the Mirage video then you're in for a shock. I think that's the preception most people have and are surprised that the Stevie onstage isn't the same Stevie in that video.
I agree... And not to mention, "Opening Night Jitters"... when you know every 'fly-on-the-wall'... will be judging and critizing you... and she has not toured with (Lindsey) Fleetwood Mac ~ in 4 years...

I guess I just don't get it. People complained about the Frankenboks, but when she wore them, she twirled faster but hated the shoes. Now she is wearing fabulous boots (one of her more famous trademarks by the way) and people are complaining the twirls are slower because she is spinning on 4-6 inch heels. It is a fact of life, we all get older and would challenge anyone to twirl like that at 60 and not fall on their butt. I know she could stand there in place and not twirl at all, but hey, it is Stevie we are talking about, she loves to dance and twirl, she is just doing it a little bit slower.

I do see her getting older and it is sad that we all can not stop time, but am just so blessed the whole band is up there on stage and alive and well and wanting to perform. And I am sure there are general fans out there that know she twirls during Stand Back just by watching performances on TV or whatever.

This seems to be a very hot topic and everyone has their own opinion, which is fine, just can not understand how it seems like there are times where Stevie is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't on a lot of things.
Just an observation.

I agree Sandy... Everyone is so lucky that Stevie is even giving them the honor of letting them see HER... She could have the "Grace Slick"... philosophy... were no rock stars should tour or perform over the age of 40???

Say what you want...but when I listen to the track of Beautiful Child from live in boston, and Gypsy from the "selections" from live in Boston..

and "Say Goodbye" from Lindsey's soundstage dvd..

and then Sara, Gold Dust Woman and Stand Back from soundstage, and Landslide and Say You Love Me from the other night.. and then my own personal concert experiences..

There's no way I think she should retire. Her voice has become so interesting, and I think it's still really powerful. Sure, she twirled slowly in concert recently... but I saw her in St. Louis on her last tour and she twirled faster. Why is this significant?

If she were reading some of the things on this board.. I bet she'd be like.. "What the f*ck? Is that what these people care about?"

It's really a combination of several factors, but I think JannieC hit the nail on the head when she brought up Stevie's overall perceived lack of interest in her performances nowadays. I guess when you have no interest or passion for what you are doing anymore, you don't attempt to hit the high notes, you don't put the same amount of energy and intensity into your vocals, you don't twirl quite as fast as you used to, etc etc.

You mentioned Stevie's performances from Live in Boston as reasons why she shouldn't retire, but that was in 2003 - it's now 2009. The Stevie Nicks of 2009 is not the same Stevie Nicks of 2003, just like the Stevie Nicks of 2003 was not the same Stevie Nicks of 1997 and so on and so on. With each tour that passes, it seems there's less and less that remains of the old Stevie. I personally loved those SYW tour performances from her. I wouldn't have seen over a dozen shows if I hadn't. Beautiful Child was amazing as was Stand Back (probably her most energetic in years), and more times than not, she was in the moment at every single one of those shows.

Her Soundstage performance was pretty good as well, but that was recorded in 2007 - which was 2 years ago. The Stevie at that show is not the same Stevie I saw the other night.

The reviews that have come in thus far on this tour have, to an extent, already confirmed what I’ve mentioned in my original post. I drove over 300 miles, spent $175 for my ticket (plus $14 for parking), spent money on gas, tolls, and my hotel room, only to watch a show in which hardly any effort was put into by Stevie. As a long time fan, I feel a little cheated and I don't think it's right. Look, go to the shows and decide for yourself. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade here. But having been a fan for so many years and having seen so many tours and shows, I can honestly say that for myself, she is no longer the Stevie Nicks that I used to love seeing in concert. She has become a parody of herself and I would rather not see her go on this way and have this version of Stevie Nicks be the last memory I have of her (or anyone else has of her for that matter). I no longer find her to be entertaining on stage. She hasn't recorded a single new track (outside of the Deep Dish remix of Dreams) in 7 years. No new music, 3 consecutive greatest hits tours in a row (2005, 2007, & 2008), passionless live vocals, unprofessional stage behavior, little to no movement around the stage, an obvious lack of respect for her fans (we all want to steal her music, so what's the point of making a new record?), constant promises in the media of working on new projects (yet nothing ever materializes), and an overall lack of intensity and desire to maintain a once fascinating career.

So, it's for these reasons that I feel she should consider retirement after this tour. Unless she decides she wants to change and start to be a creative influence in the music world again, it's pointless for her to continue. She can no longer keep milking the same cow, because it has now run dry. To continue to tour around (whether with Fleetwood Mac or solo) while doing the same songs, the same exact way, without any passion whatsoever is in my opinion taking terrible advantage of her fans - the very same people who made her the star that she is and has given her the life she now enjoys. IMO, it's a smack in the face and I choose not to support her from this point forward.

Anyway, I feel as if I'm starting to repeat myself here. I'm really not trying to discourage anyone from seeing this tour or anything like that. If you have tickets to any of the upcoming shows, go and decide for yourself. If nothing else, at least the guys in the band will put on a good show. You can count on that. And who knows, maybe Stevie will try to put out a good performance here and there. You might get lucky, you never know.

To some extent, I agree.
However - dispite the crap setlist, did you SEE her on the last few solo tours? She was having a BLAST! Looking great, sounding great and having a damn good time with some kick arse "Stand Back" twirls. And Soundstage was fanstastic as well. It's only with The Mac she seems to just be going through the motions. But the opening nights of Mac tours always have been dodgey for Stevie.
