They did fine on ticket sales during the SYW tour. They had to take a samller guarantee on the 2004 legs which had a lot of sheds, but overall they made plenty of money touring in 2003-2004.

The interesting thing is, as much as they were supposed to have fought during the making of Say You Will, the Destiny Rules doc clearly shows them sitting right next to each other on that monster 737 they chartered. Seems when they get along, they're good friends who have been through everything over the past 40+ years. When it's ugly... it's ugly!

That reminds me of something that always made me laugh was that old tour footage we have where they're on the plane and Lindsey comes in with Carol Ann and Stevie is musing about whether he should be in first class or not. He goes and sits right in back of her. Couldn't he have found a seat on the other side of the plane?

Hey I wonder what the cover of this Rumours reissue thing will look like. I hope we get some new photo for that. Even if it's an old one, I hope it's one of the band we haven't seen before.

Stevie's "uniform"...she could update that a little while still incorporating some of her siggy looks.

When it was my turn to pose a question, I asked if the musicians if they were aware of the ticket scalping. The generally cordial exchange grew tense. Singer-guitarist Lindsey Buckingham said the practice "was a pretty typical thing," adding that "Irving Azoff was quoted in the paper as being against that" and that Azoff, who is part of Fleetwood Mac's management team, "will make sure that kind of thing didn’t happen."

Azoff speaks out both sides of his mouth...further evident with the recent happs...Lindsey, turnaround and RUN!

Going on the road without a new album to promote "frees you up to enjoy each other as people," said Buckingham. "Let’s have a good time and value the friendships and history ... It takes the pressure off ... and allows more fun than we would normally be able to have."

Added Buckingham: "Knowing that we did not succeed as well as we could have last time we did an album and tour together and on a personal level ... we have something to shoot for that is a little higher. ... We are a group of contradictions ... [but] the whole being greater than the sum of its parts."

"Lindsey's been in incredibly good humor since we started rehearsing on the 5th of January," Nicks reported. "When Lindsey’s in a good humor, everybody’s happy. Our only problem is that our rehersal time has been messed with a little bit" by family matters.

Buckingham also said at another point, "Unity is waiting in the wings."

LOL. Even that "fight" wasn't really a fight. In the end, they were saying the exact same thing - they just weren't LISTENING to each other...

Linds trashing the SYW experience. Guys come on you all made a gazillion bucks, we all have to put up with "difficult" people and situations in the work place but do not get paid what you all do, seriously they need to stop whining.

What was so wrong with SYW? Did they expect it to really sell?? Are they (LB) talking out of both sides of their (his) mouth by praising Tusk because it wasn't a "Rumours II" and not selling a gazillion (to borrow a term from Stevie) copies ... and yet totally dissatisfied with the numbers from SYW? I don't get it. I think SYW is a great work. They should be proud of it. Stevie's menopause must have sucked big time for LB to be complaining about that tour now...

That's trashing? He didn't say they didn't succeed. He implied they could do better. Both on a business and personal level. I've heard a hell of a lot worse about that tour, and it wasn't coming from Lindsey.

but that's what I don't understand about LB's comments about SYW not being successful. Is he including the tour itself or just sales of the CD? Clearly the CD could have sold a lot more than it did but people still went to see them, including myself. He's probably grouping together the sluggish sales of the CD plus the "internal difficulties" on the road under the collective SYW experience. Just my guess...

Exactly. I went...10 times? 12? I forget already but A LOT (and I know people who went MANY more times than that).
I think he may be talking about record sales and then hindsight about the personal stuff. I know I was there during the Camden performance (either the last or next to last show of the tour...again, I forget!) and I think he was very nostalgic and thought things were hunky dorey. But, if he has been reading anything, or having heart-to-hearts with Stevie now, she was an unhappy camper and he was a cad, and all that jazz...so, history might not seem as lovely as it did that warm late summer evening.

that's a good point. He did seem really happy and exuberant during that tour which is why his comments now are somewhat perplexing. But it is very possible that, in the moment, he didn't realize a lot of what was being felt around him. You're probably right that these issues came up later, when it was "safe" to bring them up without disrupting the performances.
