A new poem and message by Stevie on the Nicks Fix

Can we please not turn this into a political issue? This isn't the place. Stevie doesn't discuss her political views publically 'cuz she's about music and not politics. Bill Clinton chose a Mac song as his campaign theme and the band was there to represent the song, not the political views of the Clintons.

Comments had been made about nothing new in terms of songs and poetry from Stevie and she brought one out to share and that's what I thought this thread was about.

Bickering over who agrees w you politically or not is besides the point.

I don't even live in the US. I also don't assume someone is politically ignorant just because they have different views to myself. I'm not saying that Stevie is an intellectual by all means, but I'm pretty sure it's documented that Stevie has donated to the Democrats in the past, so at the very least they represent her political leanings and she made an informed decision to actually give them money.

If so many of her fans were so sensitive about it I'm surprised more of them didn't throw out their collections when Fleetwood Mac allowed Bill Clinton to use their song for his campaign and appeared at his inauguration. But if it makes you feel better and allows you enjoy her music more believing that Stevie would have the same views as you if only she were more informed, then I'm happy for you.

Calm down. I see there is little tolerance for suggesting she might not be totally informed on politics. Oooh, so sorry you're touchy about that. Obviously it's very important to you that she doesn't agree with me. I hope that makes you feel better.

The poem is typically Stevie. But's it's not really very good.

Besides, the vision of Stevie hanging out with MLK playing the piano is kind of hilarious. I think Stevie just has a good heart and isn't all that into the details of politics.

Well it is an amazing event even if you had no doubts that a black man could be elected.

You cannot dispute that his election was a milestine in American history, all politics aside.

If you can see past the politics for just one moment then you too may see my point.

Stevie has this airy fairy rep but watch her speak in the Destiney Rules doc. She could be running a record label no doubt. Smart woman. I believe a lot of people underestimate her hence her problems with men/record labels, etc.

Lol. Oh don't worry, unless Stevie was walking around waving a Nazi flag, I could give two hoots about where she stood politically. Which is kinda the point. Just like you and I, she still has the right (and this is after the election afterall, when most people are hopeful) to say what she believes or even write a (rather eye-rolling) poem about it.

She has always had an eerily prescient quality in some of her songs. Trouble In Shangri La for instance fit the citcumstances of 911 perfectly IMO yet was supposedly written in 1994. So did Space Needle.

off the top of my head, Rose Garden is the eeriest

No no...TISL was released in 2001. Even though the song was in part based on the OJ Simpson trial, to this listener it seems that somehow Stevie has managed to release a song that fit perfectly with that period of time. Stevie herself has never said anything about TISL and 9/11. She has said that at times her writing does seem to be portentous. Here are the passages from the song that I feel fit in so well with what I (and probably many others) felt post 9/11:
