I am too tired to look it up now. But I do wonder where Whenever I Call You Friend & Gold would have come up on this chart? I know the Adult C Charts did not come around until what the 90s?
However I know every radio market is different. I lived in Nashville TN from 1978-2003 and Whenever I Called You Friend, Gold, and EVEN Got A Hold On Me were played 24/7 FOR YEARS AND YEARS ON RADIO!!!!! Gypsy was played 24/7 for YEARS in Nashville. I heard that song on the radio more than Big Love, or anything else. I think Got A Hold On Me was a big hit on the other charts also? ![]() |

It made it to number 10 on the Billboard hot 100 pop singles but it was number one on Adult contemporary.

I use to pray that Christine would piss this song out on the Dance tour!!!!
Did she really hate her solo 84 album? I love the album! Stevie use to represent some of her solo recordings in Fleetwood Mac concerts. So did Lindsey later on. I wonder why Christine did not share one of her songs with us. I heard Got A Hold On Me MORE on the radio in the 80s in Nashville more than Stand Back, Edge Of 17, Seven Wonders, Hold Me, or Big Love. Every market is differnt. I heard Got A Hold On Me, Everywere & Little Lies more than other Stevie/Lindsey material back then. Beyond 1982, I never heard Love In Store or Think About Me ever on the radio?????? Sara/Dreams/Rhiannon were still on Nashville radio well into the 90s. Landslide album version did not come around again on radio in Nashville until after the Dance reunion. Don't Stop was played more after Slick Dick Clinton got into office into 1993. At that point Go Your Own Way and The Chain started to be played more! Gold/Whenever You Call Me Friend were HUGE songs played often for years to come! |

"Whenever I Call You Friend" was a number 9 AC hit. Maybe it should be considered one of her top then hits, but I think its a crap song, so whatever. Not because the melody or singing is bad, but because it is such a cynical ploy on the part of Kenny Loggins. "Gold" wasn't an AC hit.
