It's actually on the Embarcadero. North Beach is nearby, but a few blocks west up the hill. I was just saying it was near the Financial District, and that's where she usually stays when she does a show in Concord or San Jose.

I know where it is- I just always associate it with North Beach because I've often had late dinners there before going off to Tosca/Mr. Bing's/etc. on Columbus. That, and I always associate Coit Tower with North Beach.

To envision Stevie drinking beer from a 2 liter boot-shaped glass at Schroeder's was enough to make me LOL... I love that place dearly. If you're ever downtown on a Friday around 6 or so, pop in- live polka!

Man, I swear if I ever had a "real life" encounter with Stevie, you know, in a place like that, I would totally be in dreamland. It would be insane and i would love it.

Also, I lOVE that area. Two of my friends used to work at the Bay Club, which is right by the FCD. I used to go there and wait for them to get off work. Great drinks and Great food -- at least circa 1989-94.

How cool. Where you living and working in SF?

No - but I wish!!!!

My friend from high school moved from Louisiana to SFCA in 1987. She lived in the Marina for about three years, but her building was damaged in the quake. Her grandmother, who lived in Saint Francis Wood in this HUGE house, got her a place is Sausalito way up on a hill as you first arrive there. So, I was there like every other month for a week or so and we'd hang out. She is a little "out there" (a psychologist now - go figure ) -- and she'd haul me out to all these crazy places like this chruch called GLIDE (she marched on Washington with them) . I used to love North Beach Pizza, drinks at The Clift Hotel, Zuni (best roast chicken on the planet! ) , the Haight, Tiburon (delightful!!) - and the like. We used to go on her Scooter to all these places. Let me say, crossing the Golden Gate bridge while riding on the back of a speeding scooter while holding on to some crazy chick is an event

Brig. got all serious with school and got married to another chick and had a baby. So, our lives are different. I miss those times though. In fact, I read "Interview with a Vampire" while living in New Orleans and visiting SFCA. Such great memories!

Wow, very impressive. I think visitors sometimes to get know the City better than its locals! I wonder if Stevie ever rode on the back of a scooter Thanks for sharing.

Well, she was new there -- so we kind of discovered the city (or at least parts of it) together.
