Sinai 48 has the unique ability to have a fresh sound and the experience of 30 years of hitmaking behind it. The rhythm section of Sinai 48 once propelled Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks to superstardom before Fleetwood Mac in the seminal band Buckingham Nicks. The bands bassist, Tom Moncrieff, even co-penned two of Stevie Nicks' most memorable hits: "Gypsy" and "Sara". He also found time to produce Nicks' boyfriend Walter Egan and play in his band on the hits "Hot Summer Nights" and "Magnet and Steel". Also backing the band are legendary studio musicians Charlie Chalmers and Gerry Riddle. Chalmers is responsible for most of the hits of early Stax and Chess records, such as hits by Wilson Pickett and Aretha Franklin, as well as Al Green and Isaac Hayes. Gerry Riddle is best known as the bassist for Percy sledge. Rounding the group out is 26 year old guitarist Ananiah McCarrell, who at age 15 became one of Mason Williams' proteges, and as Williams admits, can play "Classical Gas" better than he can. On vocals is actress and singer Alex Helene, who at 21 is the youngest member of the group.

Instead of saying that he co-wrote GYPSY & SARA, Moncrieff ought to take more public credit for having co-written the song he really did help write: GOLD & BRAID.

Buckingham Nicks were superstars before they joined Fleetood Mac?! well maybe I guess if you're way Birmingham AlabamacentircI knew old girl got around back in the day but the Walter Egan thing is news to me.Funny I never saw his name as cowriter on those two songs.

LOL! Walter is quoted on this site as saying it was about a 3 week thing....Stevie said in her most recent interview her fling with Mick lasted about 3 weeks...must have been the average length of time before they all sobered up!

Well, if you listen to most of the Demo's from the Tusk era, he's all over those. He helped Stevie with some of this stuff because Lindsey wouldn't do it anymore. From what he said, he moved in with Stevie for a while to help her with songs. Gypsy and Sara were two of the songs he worked on with her that became hits. He also worked on a ton of other stuff like "Storms", but why take credit for something that isn't a hit? Anyway, there were a lot of people that got stepped on by the Fleetwood Mac crowd, unfortunately Tom was one of them. He's quite disappointed that she hasn't publicly given him credit for some of the songs he helped her write. In fact, Lindsey told him that his guitars ended up in the final mix of one of the songs, but he wasn't given credit for it. I guess that wouldn't exactly fit the image of the shawl draped "genious" would it? Plus, acknowledging that L & S didn't always write songs together wouldn't fit the mystique that Mick Fleetwood is dead set on projecting, whereas the band is really quite fractured. I think the machine just used a bunch of people to get where it was. I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan because of Lindsey only. He's the only one of the two (Buckingham or Nicks) his former band-mates seem to speak of fondly. They've also said nice things about the McVie's.

Well, Gary spoke very fondly of both of them in his Q&A from some years ago. But I think he never worked with Stevie again after Buckingham Nicks ended, so he wouldn't feel the way Tom does, I suppose. Am I wrong, AJM? Do Gary or Jorge Calderon have any reason to feel disappointed as well?

I wish there would be a Q&A with Tom, even if some of what he said was critical. We could find out once and for all which demos that we are listening to are not the Fleetwood Mac players after all.

Well, Gary does have a reason to be ticked off at Stevie. He came to say hi to her after a concert in the 80's and she had Sharon come and tell him that she didn't want to see him, she didn't like him and she thought he was crazy. I just kinda think that that's the kind of thing to say yourself. He didn't mention it in his Q & A because he was trying to be gracious. Lindsey did invite Gary to his tour last year, but Gary wasn't able to make it. So, as of now, they haven't spoken since 1983. Gary always spoke of Lindsey fondly and said he would make him omelet's when he came over, long after he was famous. He spoke well of Carol Anne too.

Tom had tried to have a Q & A and I emailed Marty about it as well and neither of us ever heard anything. Too bad, Tom's a nice guy and has lots of stories to tell. I don't think he would say anything unflattering about anyone. He's not the type of guy. The reason I mention it is because I think he deserves more credit than he got and I think he got the short end of the stick too many times. However, he and Lindsey are still friends. He told me one story where he, Lindsey and some other guy were out at a pizza restaurant and a couple was making out. So, they went to the restroom and bought condoms and filed by tossing them on the couple's pizza.

I can't say anything for Jorge Calderon because I've never talked to him and I'm not quite sure who he is, except he's a guy who was also around Keith Olsen during the time of Buckingham Nicks and Lindsey and Gary both played on his album. I've never heard it or have seen a copy anywhere.

That makes me remember a story that I didn't remember who it was about. Was it Gary who told Stevie that he thought her skin looked bad? Whoever it was, it made Stevie mad and she cut the guy out of her life. Maybe you told that story on the Seven Wonders board.

When Stevie has mentioned their leaner years, she talked about how Lindsey and Tom used to go to restaurants and pay for the meal with checks that they knew would bounce.

Yeah, that did happen. It was during the Rumours sessions, Gary happened to be recording another album in the same complex. He ran into her in the hallway with her entourage and he said he noticed a sore on her forehead. He said he was entirely sober at the time and just mentioned it to her and she called him a bunch of names saying he was lying. Gary's a very hometown kinda guy, kind of like Paula Dean or "Mater" from Cars. So, it's not like he'd just make that up for no reason.

Partly because he's just not that kind of guy. He and Annie are very giving people and I think the view it more as a personal thing than a business thing. I don't think they care so much about the money as much as they don't understand why he wouldn't get credit. I don't hink he blames Stevie as much as the whole "machine".

Just Curious., Who are you, and how do you know this Gary again? you seem to know ALOT about this.
