Illume a very interesting song actually. I wrote it after September 11th, you know, so it was one of the first I wrote after those tragedies. It’s just about making it, you know. I was sitting there, thinking about those horrible tragedies in October of 2002, and I was sitting there with just me in the room, and the candle was lit. I love candles, you know. And my heart was still so heavy from everything, and I didn’t know quite what would happen, and we were all like that, confused. I didn’t set out to write a September 11th song, it just happened. It goes “ Illume, says the candle that I burn, a reflection in the window,” and that’s just about the inspiration for the song. And I tell you, my heart was so very heavy and full at this time, I was so confused. And then there are some other parts…

“And I am alone with my thoughts, And how we could make it – And what we have been through, all of the trauma.”

I also wrote one called “Get back on the Plane,” and a song called “The towers touched the sky,” but it was just too depressing.

It's always nice to get some more information on the new album. Stevie saying that this album will have a distinct sound all its' own was very encouraging...."doesn't sound like Rumours, Tusk, or Mirage". I think it's important that Fleetwood Mac tries to break some new gound instead of trying to recreate the "Fleetwood Mac sound" or a certain formula of songs.


"Illume" on the new album...that song looks very interesting indeed..can't wait to hear it.

I'm seeing more and more that Stevie seems to have "her feet back on the gound". It's nice to believe in angels, witches, and magic, but hey it's just as nice to take your dogs out for a walk too!!

Thanks for posting that....I didn't know that "illume" was the song that Stevie and Lindsey were rehearsing on the "best of" documentary footage. I liked it but didn't know the name. i think i need to watch that again....

Its the song where Stevie is on the couch singing....
Can't wait to hear 'Siilver Springs' on the tour!!!

I don't know why but for some reason I think Illume will be one of the best tracks on the album...just something about that little sneak preview we get on the documentary...it sounds very classic Stevie, yet totally fresh.
