Well this is the story I've been waiting to tell for awhile now. I can remember these 2 days, May 9&10 1980 like they were yesterday. First, a bit of a back story. I had first heard Fleetwood Mac in the summer of 1977 right around the 4th of July at the age of 6. Gold Dust woman came on the radio, and I made a very deep spiritual connection to this music immidieately. My mother bought Rumours for me for Christmas in 1977, and I wore it out listening to it in less than 6 months. Then when Tusk came out I was even more excited because it was 2 records instead of one. I remember listening to that just like Rumours and pretty much wearing it out in a short period of time. So anyway, April of 1980 rolls around, and I read a full page ad for the Met Center shows in the Minneapolis Tribune and I right away rudh to my mother shrieking about how my favorite band is coming to town. Mind you I'm a 9 year old boy at this time. My mother would not allow me to go to these concerts. She's no prude by any stretch, but knowing some of the stuff that went on at concerts back in those days, she wasnt going to let her young son be exposed to that. I begged and pleaded with her for 4 weeks to let me go but she wouldnt budge. So when Friday May 9, 1980 rolled around, I pretty much barricaded myself in my room, drew the shades, and did nothing for 2 days but listen to my Fleetwood Mac records in protest of my mothers refusal to let me go. Finally on Sunday morning, I rejoined the living and came out of my room. I wasnt even hungry to eat I was so upset. I still didnt speak to mom for 3 days after that because I was so upset. Years later, this is something my mother would point to when she would try to understand the intense passion I have for their music. I know now she meant well, but damn I still to this day wish I couldve gone! That's pretty much it. I feel very fortunate becasue I've made up for not having been able to go to those shows back then by being able to have the experiences I've had the last 11 years, so it all worked out in the end, I just had to wait 20 years. Good things come to those who wait, right?

So, even as a kid, when you first heard Tusk you immediately liked it? I remember getting it after hearing Sara on the radio and being disappointed in the album as a whole. It took me awhile to warm up to it. Michele

Yes, absolutely! Ina different way than Rumours. I dont know how I was able to do that at 9, but I guess I had an appreciation for the difference between it and Rumours.

That's how I felt when I got the album. I cut school the day it was released, just to go get that record and went immediately to a friends house to listen to it (his parents were at work). Not all of my friends were smitten with it the way I was. I loved it because there was so much music in so many different styles. And I loved Stevie's new hairstyle.

I also got to go to both Madison Square Garden shows in November 1979 and we had great seats because my friends father was "connected". We were in the 5th row for both nights. The only reason my parents let me go (I was 16) is because my friends older brother was going. Little do they know that we smoked so much weed that night All that weed and all these years later I can still see Stevie up there, working the crowd. Squatting, stomping, screaming, singing Landslide Great memories!

I loved "Tusk" the very first time I heard it too. Although I had heard it for the first time in 2004/2005, I was only familiar with "Rumours." And most people I knew that heard of the band mostly liked "Rumours" and the White Album. I could remember listening to it and loving every single thing I heard. I was amazed by it and thought I was alone in thinking that "Tusk" was better than "Rumours." Wasn't until I met more hardcore FM fans that I realized I wasn't. I will always adore "Rumours" but "Tusk" will always be my favorite.
