Something bothered me about this article. I think twice she said "I was in hospital". No one says that here in America, unless they are trying to be like Madonna and affect a phony British accent. Who says "in hospital" here in the US? We say " I was in the hospital".

Unless it was a transcription typo. Or, the article is a parody.

I appreciate that you think my writing skills are so great I could fake a 5,000 word interview from a five page article.
I don't have the magazine (which is British btw) in front of me right now so I can't tell you if it's a typo or not, however if I were transcribing an interview with an American I would probably write "in hospital" instead of "in the hospital" and "mum" instead of "mom", just as a style point, a lot of magazines do that, it doesn't mean the interview is fake or a parody.

I can't remember the actual quote now, but I recall when Christine went to see the SYW tour, she said that they were all so tired and that Stevie came up to her and said how tired she was, but Christine quoted Stevie as using a British phrase for being tired and that was odd. But then people speculated that either Chris was paraphrasing or that maybe Stevie did use the British term, since she had been around Brits since the seventies and was talking to one.

Default My 2 pence...

The term 'railway station' is rarely, if ever, used in the US to refer to the place where you get on the choo-choo..but it's used commonly in the UK, and, in a FM song penned by Stevie.

Meet me down by the TRAIN station.. I've been a-waiting.. I'm through waiting for youuuuuuuuu.

Actually, that's a Buckingham Nicks tune. Pre-dates their joining FM.

"Railway station" is commonly heard in old country songs though, that Stevie was inspired by.

I've read a few of the British articles where they quote her using British terms, it bothers me just in how it reads - it doesn't sound like her. Especially when they quote her as saying "Mum" when you know she is saying "Mom". Saying "knackered" or "holiday" and maybe some other slang phrase I can understand. It does sound a bit affected...

Carol Ann said they all said "punters," because Mick commonly used the term.

Well, I did say "unless it was a transcription typo". And I was jumping on the 'parody' bandwagon, as others had mentioned it before me. 5 pages would be overkill for a parody, true. I liked the article, I think she came across pretty straighforward and funny.

loved this article, and thanks so much to sharon for typing it out with her little fingers

I'll agree, it didn't sound like stevie in a lot of places, but hell, it was still hilarious to read.
