Damn good point. I wish I'd made it.

And with that, I must

"Look, you are welcome to waste your time with whatever ****ty music you want to clutter your mind with."

Coming from a supposed 'fan', thats possibly one of the most closed minded things I've ever heard anyone say. If you are such a fan of FM and are as passionate about them as you like to make out, then u should at least try to appreciate that other people may also have a passion for other kinds of music. I'm sure if you heard somebody describe Rumours as "****ty music", you'd be the first to jump to its defence.

And for the record, if you knew what u were talking about, you would know that absolutely no incriminating evidence was found against MJ regarding the child molestation accusations, anything you might've heard would've been made up, presumably by tabloid newspapers - oh, but u dont read them, do you?

PS. Hi seteca, dont mean to sound like i'm havin a dig at you, I can see from what you've said that you have got an fair and objective view on MJ, and you obviously have much more of an idea of what your talking about. I much prefer listening to people who have a mind of their own.

I don't believe my status as a fan of Fleetwood Mac is in question here. Everything you've written so far directed at me is replete with assumptions, and may I add, rather disrespectful, which leads me to believe you're one of those persons who don't like to be confused with the facts. How big a Fleetwood Mac fan I am is not for you to judge or decide. If someone wants to call Rumours "****ty music," I couldn't possibly care less. I am way past caring what other people think about my taste in music. When you're young and inexperienced, you want everybody to agree with you that this band or that band is great because you like it. Then you (should) reach a point when you realize that it simply doesn't matter if you're the one single fan of a particular band you like. Does the music speak to you? Does it make you feel good? Give you energy? Make you sad? Angry? As long as you get what you are seeking in the music, enjoy it.

Arguing musical tastes is a slippery slope, and one that I am not about to slide down. While I made a reference to "****ty music," I didn't specifically qualify Michael Jackson's music as ****ty or brilliant or whatever. You inferred that from what I wrote. I suggest you read closer and absorb the meaning of a sentence before you burden your keyboard with misguided missives. My comments have centered around his questionable, even criminal, behavior. It seems to me we have reached a point at which we close our eyes to way too much objectionable behavior, especially among celebrities. He is the poster boy for what's wrong with the celebrity culture.

And for the record, if you knew what u were talking about, you would know that absolutely no incriminating evidence was found against MJ regarding the child molestation accusations, anything you might've heard would've been made up, presumably by tabloid newspapers - oh, but u dont read them, do you?
There you go again being disrespectful. How do you expect to ever learn something when you don't take the time to really understand what somebody is telling you before embarking on a msiguided counterargument? I simply don't care whether you believe if I read tabloids. Whatever weight you place on the veracity of my statements will not make me lose sleep. If you want to believe that your demented idol is a sane person who ought to be perceived as a role model, you are free to believe whatever you wish. However, you can deny it a million times, but it will not change the fact that he is a psychotic patched-up vestige of a human being who has placed children's lives in danger. To be sure, he was never found guilty of molestation, but the huge settlement meant go gag his accusers speaks volumes. Anyone with a sense of honor and a clear conscience would have faced his/her accuser in court to clear his/her name.

Lastly, don't you find it ironic that people who back their arguments with phrases such as "if you knew what you were talking about..." tend to me the most misinformed?

Your comments bemuse me. your entire post is littered with irony and contradictions. Firstly, you say I assume things? Well, your "lead to believe" that im somebody who gets confused by the facts? and you assume that i'm young and inexperienced? and that i want everyone to agree with me? I'm not the one who writes lines and lines of opiniated drivel in a desperate attempt to get my message across.

You're trying so hard to convince urself that you couldn't care less about MJ, when so far uv had more to say about him than even me. You're apparent hatred of this man whom you've never even met obviously stems from his "criminal behaviour" - but its ok for YOUR idol (and mine) to snort so much cocaine that her nose caved in?

Bemuse!?

There you go making assumptions again. I've never revealed on this board, much less to you, who my idols are. I think it is possible to like a band without idolizing people who don't deserve to be idolized.

Interestingly you conveniently ignored the reference to the dangling baby. Does this mean you consider that acceptable behavior?

If you think I've contradicted myself, all I can say is read it again. Or just drop it and move on. That's OK too.

The 'dangling baby' incident was a moment of complete stupidity, i'm not gonna deny that, but that doesnt warrant the label 'psychotic' and it certainly doesn't change the fact that he's unbelievably talented.

You're obviously running out of arguments as you've now resorted to nit-picking - I used the word 'idol' to make it clear who I was referring to.

Golddustboi, let's clear up this dust-up.

You like Michael Jackson's music. Good for you. I think you should listen to whatever makes you feel good. Honestly.

I don't like Michael Jackson's music. I won't listen to it.

I won't debate his talent or lack thereof because it simply doesn't matter to me.

I will continue to criticize his abhorrent behavior because that is my right. I dislike celebrities who hog the limelight, especially those unravel in front of the cameras. (Incidentally there is a new thread on Chit Chat about Michael Jackson that you should check out.)

I will continue to believe he did some fishy stuff involving kids. I will continue to despise him for it.

You will continue to believe he's a good guy who got a bad rap.

Since neither of us is going to change our minds, let's agree to disagree.
