I think the problem is that you're automatically assuming since the Euro/pound is stronger, then they must certainly earn more then we do. I really doubt that the pay ratio is the same in the UK as it is here. Plus, in one of the articles you posted it shows how terribly high the gas taxes are in the UK as opposed to here. Trust me, it's not even.

Europe may very well pay more for gas. Why??? I dont know. but I think its a basic mistake to compare two different contries with two different monetary systems and act like one country is worse off than another based on COST. (or WAGES)

but back to the original topic ... mary, you still haven't addressed the issue of median household income. if you compare the MHI of the US and the UK, you'll see that people in the UK do not, in fact, make twice as much as we do.
