I hate my job ...but I'm good at it. After 20 years, I guess you eventually get that way...AND the salary is fairly decent for a government employee.

What I'm still working on is to, once again after 25 years, be a FULL-TIME musician. Which once I reach a point where I can retire (yes, I said "retire") from my current job at a decent pension rate, then focus solely on making music. This "dual life" of having a stressful day job and still trying to keep both feet in the music biz is wreaking havoc on me. The ol' "I'm too old for this ****" is in full swing. Since I have no intention of giving up music, this damn desk job has its days numbered, but unfortunately the "number" is still pretty high.

Of course, all bets are off if I hit the lottery. Look out recording studios and concert tour venues!! My goal is to have an album that out-sells Time and gets twice the airplay.

Well, I'm studying Applied Mathmatics and Physics at university so apparently that can get me all sorts of jobs, none of which I have any interest in.

What I really want to do is something involved in music. I've started recording songs I've written and I can quite happily spend hours and hours experimenting with studio programs to get exactly the right sound I'm looking for. To me that's completely fascinating and would be what I what I's love to do. I'd settle for being a studio engineer or a producer (if I was good enough) but ideally I'd be a recording artist, doing original songs and handling the production duties mostly by myself, playing most/all the instruments myself probably and touring. Wouldn't care how big I got, just so long as it was able to make ends meet that'd be perfect.

I'd settle for that lol. What sort of stuff do you play/write? Once you get that album released be sure to say so I can get a copy and get you one step closer to Time.

Dammit D, you stole mine!!!
I could make a full time job out of overseeing my island, servants and naked babes.

I like my job, although I don't care for two people that I HAVE to work with. I get paid well, but get ZERO respect from the above two people. I've not had a "thank you". Ever.
(For those who don't know, I do sound for bands. The bands ALWAYS thank me, but the promotor who hires me, is the one who doles out praise, like Satan doles out icecubes!).

Is that saying much? What are the exact sales figures for Time? I mean, I know "I" bought it.............

I think you take the prize for one of the most interesting jobs. How did you get into that?

Well, while I was in school, I played in a band(still do). I gradually bought enough PA equipment to go out and do sound for other bands. The month I graduated from IU, I thought I'd give it a whirl, and see how much money I could make doing sound for bands(god forbid I get a REAL job, with my degree! Music was all I was ever really interested in anyway).
It's a good job, if you like being out til 3-4AM, sleeping til 2PM, and drinking all the free alcohol you can swallow!

Now that sounds like my kind of gig haha. It's really too bad that I don't have a single music bone in my body. I'm incredibly jealous of those who do.

I was a Drama Therapist (Freudian/Jungian) -- Mental Health Counseling with children, adolescents and families and in Juvenile Forensics, until I married and embarked on this, what turned out to be, family-building challenge .... (age )

Now I am about to become the Stay At Home Mom to TWO sons Being a mom is a bigger job than I had ever imagined, but with tons of good parts.

However, when my sons reach the time they don't need me so much any more I want to pursue my dream of having a travelling marionette theater, and visit schools and hospitals and community organizations and perform puppet plays.

I've always made puppets for my hobby and really, REALLY want to take it somewhere, a new level, one day. I think I am done with being a counselor. 15 years was enough.

that sounds fantastically interesting, but very emotionally taxing.

I love my job. It's tons of fun and creatively satisfying (I do sets for film and tv for those who don't know).

The people I work with are very cool. We laugh a lot and have true collaboration. The guys who work "for" me help so much, are creative, and add tons to the sets. Plus we get along. We even had a jam session a few weeks ago in the warehouse, and I sang lead. That was a hoot.

Ultimately, I hope my investments pay off and the real estate thing provides a steady base of income so I can stop working if I want to. But, I don't want to anytime soon. I have great benefits, pension, health, etc. I do want to focus on seriously writing someday before I am dead. Hope I get it in gear to do that but want the right amount of passive income first. Money is so not my motivation when it comes to writing. I don't want the need for cash hanging over my head.
